...and therein lies the irony. The %#tards that advocate this work action are playing into the company's hands. THEY are the ones who are delaying getting a new CBA, which is EXACTLY what the company wants.
But hell, if it makes you feel like you're sticking it to the man, go right ahead.

You cant delay something that wasn't really moving forward in the first place. We are still miles and miles apart (1.1 billionish) and there will be little to no difference in the time frame. That's the beauty in this debacle.
Besides that, this is nothing more than people tired of working on their day off for 70% less than industry standard. This problem is company created, exacerbated by bob and his big mouth, and now the company has to live with it.
I don't care what an injunction would say or how much the union pleads, I still wont be working on MY day off for far less than my peers make. This isn't a sick out or slow taxing intentionally harming the company. This is simply not working more than I have to, enjoying MY time off.
It's not a job action, it's common sense. But by all means, please feel free to ULCC yourself out, no questions asked.

The not so subtle nuance is when guys decline the assignment and then offer crew scheduling (on a recorded line) a dissertation on why they're declining the trip. If pressed, the answer is "because it's my day off and I have other plans", although that would be a generous answer, it's actually none of the companies business why you don't want to work on a day off. Caller ID is wonderful thing.
Whatever the reason, the net effect is the same, right?

After seeing this scenario play out at brand x, I'd offer a friendly suggestion that if your CBA allows you to decline an assignment when offered, just say "I decline the assignment" or whatever verbiage is expected when you decline.

Anyway, we can argue until the cows come home, but it's now irrelevant. What's done is done, I'm off until the end of the first week in June, back to my leisure time.

I have an idea!! How about getting a new contract with pay rates equal to your competitors so people would like to go to Spirit and then staffing wouldn't be an issue... I just thought about that just now all by myself!! LOL Another thing I am thinking about all by myself is that if all the other airlines out there getting these big contracts paying alot more than Spirit for the same work would tell me by my "common sense" that everyone will go work for those competitors and leave Spirit causing even more staffing issues eventually hurting the investors bottomline!!! But, im just a pilot and thinking outloud right now... what do I know right? LOL

LOL... you know what I mean, every airline has gotten pay raises with their contracts. I'll spell it out for you then... UAL, DAL,AA,SWA and yes even Allegiant have gotten very nice raises and I would consider them competitors flying similar routes. Common sense will tell you that most people will do their best as they currently are right now to go to those airlines paying more than double to fly similar routes on same aircraft! As you can see as those airlines have gotten massive pay raises, people are making Spirit the bottom of their current list of potential places to work. If Spirit was the only one hiring then yes management would have some more leverage, but you know this is not the case. I hope you understand now what I meant to say before.... Its plain simple, people just wont go to Spirit if they can get a job making more flying same equipment, same routes.
