Balance Sheets Change, Hubs Change, CEO's Change, Gov Policies Change, The industry is always changing and never for the good long term just like every other profession has.

-Get as many types as you can, get into safety or instructing
-Payoff your house
-Live below your means
-Get your wife out in the work force in a "real job" that has/does have earning potential
- Stay in the guard/res till retirement, just suck it up. (Pension and Health coverage)
- Buy Loss of License Insurance
- Develop a second skill set
-If your married don't f*ck the FA, they will want more then a F&ck buddy eventually and then your in trouble. It will always come home one way or another.

These are the ONLY things you can control

Some or even most of the goodwill towards management has evaporated due to multiple missteps which have subsequently eroded the company culture.

The portion of company culture which emanates from the employees themselves is alive and well. Employee to employee relations are still very strong. Employee interaction among work groups is generally very positive.

And don't buy the BS that culture in the cockpit is better here than anywhere else. It's a fairy tale. Captains buy beer at every airline I've ever worked at. It's much appreciated but it's not a SW thing. It's a brotherhood of aviators thing.

That should written question that you have to memorize or something

Especially the last item, I've seen many a pilot's go down that way. Don't think you can bail on friendly terms either. You will only get smoked while under canopy....

Bravo !!

You're one of those "planning" types, i guess?
Funny about the f.a. though. Yeah, the road wife will eventually wanna have that "road" tag removed from the title.
On the other hand, if you're the type to "get your wife out into the workforce", you probably won't be married for long anyhow(i.e. she's not an object).
A wise man once told me: don't take life TOO seriously because no one gets out of this place alive!

P.s. it's still a kick arse place to work.

I've been married for 15 years. During that time we endured 3 furloughs. My wife had worked full time since the day I met her and made more money than I do for most of it.

Want to be happy for the rest of your life? Find an independent wife who aspires to do more than spend all morning at the gym then have lunch with the girlies.

(Note: stay at home Mom definitely qualifies as full time work so please don't think I'm disparaging those who choose to stay home and raise the kids. Of course once the kids are grown... back to work baby!)

Keep in mind that the *****ing is from a select few. The majority of guys are not on this board venting, they are out enjoying life....
