The pickings are slim around DAL. SWA expanding like they did over the last couple of years has sent occupancy rates through the roof.
I usually do the Holiday Inn Market Center. Crew rate is around $90, but the van has limited hours so you may have to uber ($5) if early or late. The ramada has a crew rate of around $60, the van service is OK, but it is a dump. I use it if I am just staying for a few hours. You can usually find a decent deal if you use Priceline or just call for crew rates on one of the other close properties like the Sheraton or Crowne Market Center, but it is hit or miss to be sure.
There are other options like staying towards DFW and using the DART, but you have to put a price on the level of pain you are willing to endure. DAL just isn't a great commuter airport.

DFW has some pretty cheap crew options. Red Roof or Motel 6 both under $40 out the door, but you get what you pay for. Pretty spartan rooms; good enough for me as a commuter - wouldn't put my family up there...

Elegante hotel. Nothing special but they pick up and drop off at both DAL and DFW which for me was a big plus. Decent restaurant and bar on site. Includes an OK breakfast.

I haven't been there in 2yrs+ so call ahead.
