June Vacancy bid shows:
49 new hires to BWI
15 to MCO
4 to MDW
12 to OAK
A person hired in Jan could hold any domicile except ATL (that will take years), DEN (for some reason), and is just outside of LAS.
No idea on how long on Reserve. With 800 to be hired this year, and the previously empty-of-training months of June and July now having 78 each...not very long. A few months, maybe.

Heard people are working less. Don't need to work as much to make the same $ with the cba. Add in more sick calls and trying to limit JA's means more people needed. Prob a little extra to cover any attrition also.

Thats BS. The group didn't suddenly get less greedy. They are tired of being JA'd or re-routed on an open time award. If the company would award trips at premium and then leave those pilots alone (especially in the summer and around holidays) they would pick up again.

I don't buy into the theory about preventing JA/premium pay. That is the cost of doing business and a SWA hallmark. Underman so that you are manned correctly during shoulder months and then depend on JA/greed to get you through the peak months.
It's expensive as sh1t to hire people. SWA is run by accountants. They are planning to utilize those people in some capacity. You don't hire for the peak months and then suck up the cost in the shoulder months, at least not here. SWA doesn't run a traditional reserve system because their reserves are on their couch or at Home Depot staring at CWA or text alerts.
Guys want to fly their lines and I think that is great, more power to them and I wish them all the success. I agree that the scale has tipped a little too far in the QOL department and we need some improvement in fixing involuntary flying. I, however, depend on the SWA method of crisis management which is to bring in talent from the bench when things are getting tough out there. It is going to buy my kids an education.

Dunno....flown with a lot of CA's lately who say they're happy flying their line or less and aren't picking anything up since they make "enough" now.
FO's may vary....I aim for around 115 just because my wife doesn't work and I took a paycut to come here. By yr 5 I'll be fine flying my line.

I fly with a good mix of both. I have flown with a few captains that do over 200 every month. Sounds exhausting to me. Anyone who looks at my board can see I am a smarter not harder kind of guy. Yes, that takes a little extra time on CWA, maybe 10-20 minutes a day during my downtime.
That's honestly what I like best about this place. I plan on hustling for the next few years to pay the bills while the kids are in school. After that I plan on throttling back significantly and enjoying life a bit more.
