So I'm new to trying to get onto SWA. Only airline I'm trying for also. I meet the requirements; Retired military, TT about 6k, FWPIC about 1300, etc. I have my 737 Type, I have the 4yr degree, and most of the other things I read about on here that are the "points makers." Still no call, but I'm kinda new into this. I'm trying to get to the Job Fairs but my work schedule seems to make those impossible. The requirement of "actively flying 2/5 yrs" is something that may be a showstopper why I may not be getting called. I was flying FW overseas 4-5 yrs ago and flying MEDEVAC helos the past 3 yrs. Anyone know if the "actively flying" includes helos or are they just looking for FW flying in that 2/5? Any help/thoughts/ideas are greatly appreciated.

Mesa CA here. A bunch of us are pretty sick of where we are with the shenanigans JO is pulling on us. What I USED to like about Mesa was there used to be plenty of reserves, and I could drop trips or parts of trips anytime I wanted. What is it like there in that regard? Plenty of reserves for dropping? And is it like Mesa used to be where you can drop parts of trips that you don't want? I understand some airlines only allow you to drop entire trips or nothing at all. TIA!

There is NO trip dropping (in whole or in part) at WN.
You can ATTEMPT to put a trip in "give away" and try to get another pilot to take it, or part of it from you. This very rarely works, but especially when you are junior with weekend trips.
You can also trade with the company or with other pilots, but one thing you just can not do here is drop trips.
The reason is that reserves are staffed very lean. They typically fly the heck out of them. We also don't have long call reserve... But that's another story.

For example...15 trips in OAK today have gone through the open time bid process, and every single one of them was assigned to a reserve. Most were assigned early yesterday as well, so this is just how they planned out the day today. 8 reserves still available too, they seem to be staffing reserves pretty fat on the weekend this month, on the FO side at least...
