Never bid the bottom 3 blank lines. It is a bait and switch by the company and its complete BS.

If you have a reserve line with a series of 3on/3off, how difficult would it be to manipulate your schedule to get one or more series of let's say 6on/6off? Is that obtainable for a junior reserve pilot?

You'd have to find someone willing to swap RSV blocks around to get the schedule you want.

Yeah unfortunately the company just wasnt built on making life easy for commuters.

If i had a nickel for every time some guy who has never worked for another airline told me "commuting is a choice"...

Yup.... BTDT.

My answer was always that I did not choose to commute, I chose not to move AGAIN!

It would be difficult. However, there are reserve lines that are often 3 on 4 off.

So even though you have 15 days off, you'll spend part of 4-5 of those commuting into your domicile. (whether you are on reserve or not)
I think it depends a lot on the city pairs for a person's commute. I'm finishing my second month commuting to BWI from FLL. Maybe I've just been lucky but I've only had to do the commute twice on a day off. With PM's I never have to commute the night before, and even if I get stuck on my last day I'm home on my first day off by 0900 if I want to be, so it is a loss of a night in my bed but not the day.

To be safe you should probably listen to Zap though as his experience is probably more common.
