Part of the interview is logbook review in which they'll ask you to point out to them when you reached the hiring mins. In my case, they asked me to point out the date I reached 1,000 turbine PIC, and the interviewer marked the date on her paperwork. Mind you, I have 3000 turbine PIC.

Something to keep in mind...

I guess I'm not going to fill out the app till I get my 1000. I totally understand both sides of the argument. I'll talk to them, and if they want me to meet them at the next job fair when I have my 1000 so be it. Thanks for all the advice!

Honesty is the best policy.

Let them know that you'll have the requirements met in a month or two.

And honestly, if you're civilian the pool hasn't dwindled to the point of 1,000 pic being competitive... Yet. If you have the type then you're probably competitive.

Make sure you're involved in extracurricular stuff to set you apart, and show SW that you look out for others' well being.

Do you have a actual log book or something electronic?

From job fair to interview invite for me was 2 weeks. I could have interviewed 2 weeks after that but date didn't work and interviewed a month after my invite. I was in class 2 months later. Don't lie. It's one of the things they hate. Just tell the truth. It's easier that way.....if they think you're lying or misleading them you WILL NOT get hired

I have both. I brought my LogTen Pro printed and bound with 2500TT tab, 1000 turbine PIC tab, failed checkride tab (only one and it was back in 1998) and retest tab. They wanted to see the original.

I tabbed all those in originals and in LogTen Pro.

Also, have the totals ready for the last 12 months, 12-24 months, 24-36 months, 36-48 months and 48-60 months. This is where your electronic logbook really helps. I brought a sheet with all these totals printed on a spreadsheet to make it easy for the interviewer.

Default past employment

Maybe not the place to ask the question, but I like Southwest and the posts on this thread seem to be by more professionals than the jerks on some of the other threads.

I have read hours and hours of posts and still have a question. The answer may be here somewhere, but the amount of information is overwhelming.

Can past non flying employment help land a job with a major once competitive requirements are met?

My situation: I have a background as a firefighter, with a specialty in ARFF. I am an EMT. I am also a certified police officer and served on the SWAT team. Would any of this help on a resume with the majors? I hear about volunteerism and other things. What about this?

They looked at your logbook AT the WAI job fair or are you referring to the actual interview at SWA? I wasn't planning on bringing all my logbook material to WAI. Do they expect that when you meet with them during the Fastpass session???

Thanks

No logbooks at the job fairs...I'm pretty sure he's referring to his actual interview.

Thanks

I was referring to the actual interview. I never went to a job fair so I can't be of much help in that regard.
