Flexibility at SWA can be translated to mean "you can work as much as you want"

I don't understand why this is even a discussion. No one wants PBS on property. Why are we even discussing it?! Just tell the company the same thing they'd tell us if we asked to double our pay rates.......go pound sand! It's never going to happen.

To each is their own.. As long as I can get the time off I want and make extra coin doing it, I'm good. Sorry you disagree!

Or as little as you want!

I'm lucky enough to have a spouse that makes a good deal of money and prefers to have me home rather than flying trips. I have averaged 20 days off for a number of years. One can flex their schedule down as well as up depending on whether you desire time off or cash.

Not quite. The FO side is very short staffed and I have a really hard time giving away even good paying weekday trips. The Part 117 buffer buII$hit doesn't help the situation.

If it's difficult to reduce my schedule in January and February, what's it going to be like in the summer. Guess they better keep hiring to cover increased sick calls.

Sometimes it takes aggressive action. I routinely put my entire line in give away as soon as it is awarded. I put no restrictions on the trips (always in black requiring no PIN number.) As soon as one goes away, I then remove the others that I want to keep from trip trade give away.

Rarely do I not end up with at least one trip given away. Four day trips are always harder to give away. I usually bid lines that have trips which I think will be easy to dump. Day trips and two days are always easier to dispose of in my opinion. YMMV.

Precisely what I do. Immediate give away with no restrictions. Usually productive weekday 3-days. Start asking your FOs to see how much we have in TTGA. The 9.60 TFP Carib turns just sit there for days.

It's hard to place value on the fact that I know when I initially bid for a month, I can greatly improve my line over what I will be able to attain from my junior bidding power alone. For example, in March I was originally awarded around 91 TFP and within one hour after the ELITT opened, not only was I able to get the days off I was seeking, I was also able to increase my total TFP to approximately 118, all while only adding only one extra day of actual work .. (16 total days off) If I'm not mistaken, PBS doesn't afford you that luxury.

Also, simply adding more vacation time does not necessarily equate to the amount of TFP you can make from trips being dropped for pay that touch vacation. I've seen and heard of some pretty wild amounts of TFP people rack up in conjunction with vacation ranging upwards of 200 TFP and in some cases, much more.
Burton,
Flexibility is ENHANCED with PBS, but for both you and the company. As said before, the company can flexibly schedule right around your training and vacation to make any holidays / weekends easier to fill.

With a little seniority, you can create right from your initial bid, a much better line overall than any line bidding would produce with all the exact days off and types of trips you like. No trading or improving required.

Of course, like all bidding systems.... seniority will significantly improve results!

I had PBS at my last job. Never got more than 14-15 days off a month. Routinely would be Denied drops/swaps due to "lack of staffing". The few months I've been using CWS have been night and day better than PBS.

I say hell no to PBS.
