Anyone else interviewing on Feb 24th? I have a noon slot and just got a room at the DoubleTree on the 23rd.

Would much rather have a great QOL and retire with a good schedule than be back on reserve just for a few bucks and an extra stripe.
Is that from myseniority.com?

I'm an Oct 2015 hire and when I run it at 56% it says a 14 year upgrade for me at zero growth and a 9 year upgrade at 2% growth.

I have similar results from that site as a later 2014 hire (closer to 10 years for me from DOH since there was no hiring for almost a year) Just hoping we don't buy a particular someone that will throw it all out the window. I'm not so sure that we'll be so lucky! Writing seems to be on the wall. Why is LGB so enticing to management out of the Blue?

Is that from today or from your DOH? And are you looking at the most junior captain position? Or one in your desired domicile?

If I use that site to 56% looks like 14.5 years from DOH at 0% growth, right at 12 years at 2% growth.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. You should always maximize your 401k match, even if you don't have to money.

Contribute your 10%, get the company match of 10%, then sell immediately (Take the 10% IRS penalty, which is 2% of the total), and you're still up 8% over what you would have had if you never contributed.

Please find that captain and tell him to do that for me.

Ok cool. Those calculations are from DOH. And I used 56% even though the most junior Capt in HOU is at 58%. Ideally I would like MCO, but would bid HOU to hold Capt. Who knows what it will be like in 10-15 years though.

Thanks that's what I was looking for. I'm assuming BWI is 6 months to a yr?

Trying to balance where I want to live with schedule flexibility

Bwi is probably closer to a year to hold a line. It's a big base so lots of reserves.

If you're willing to move anywhere I usually recommend Phx or Las as they combine the best scheduling seniority along with good qol and low to reasonable cost of living. More commuters in Las means better flexibility for a guy who lives there but not as desireable a place to live as Phx imo.

One thing to keep in mind long term is that a base like Den has lots of junior captains but they will all still be there in 15-20 years. Phx, Dal, Mco have many senior captains but more retirements as well over the next few years.
