Southwest Hiring Info 2016
This could very well be. The constraint on training has always been sim availability. With moving sims coming up (no easy task), the decreasing relevance of the two Classic sims, and increasing the number of sim events per new hire, this may be the new norm. Has anyone heard anything about it?
Buddy of mine from college is going through upgrade and says they are 11 short in that newhire class. They tried to call folks from future classdates to fill it. No luck. Harder and harder to fill classes...

The seniority list shows 18 newhires for that class. 11 short would mean a class size of 29. I doubt that there were no candidates ready and willing to move up. I would think its the new syllabus and added sims that drive the class size. The job fair was supposedly sold out in two minutes. I think its still a bit early (in the oncoming pilot shortage) to have a class 11 short. But going to recurrent training soon and then I will find out for sure.

Pilot Credentials + Career Page
I know the question I am about to ask is somewhere in the thread, but it is a long thread. Once you have everything filled out in pilot credentials, do you need to fill out another app in the career page?
Any help is welcomed.

Currently, there is no open First Officer posting.
They've had one open since March, then apparently closed that one, and had one open this past weekend, but now it's closed.
But, yes, you have to apply for the First Officer via that web site.
Have you created a profile at https://pilots-southwest.icims.com/jobs/login ? Not sure if there is a way to register on the web site and create your profile there, but that's where I go to login to update my SWA profile.
I'm sure someone else can explain it better, but, right now it appears you cannot currently "apply" for a SWA FO position. But, you can keep your SWA.PilotCredentials updated, and update the SWA Profile so you're ready when they re-post.
11 short in a class? sigh....

I submitted my application on https://swa.pilotcredentials.com in May with a December 2016 availability, attended the OBAP in Chicago last month and got the email to fill out the application on the southwest iCIMS from the southwest HR department last week. The next day 2 new tabs of information showed up on the pilot cred page and it gave me the option to schedule the interview. For what it's worth I'm a mil pilot without a 737 type.
I hope this info helps answer your question nicolondono.

I am in the class right now that just started Monday, and we are not down 11 people. There are 24 of us in class each day including some new instructors coming through and several returning crew members and an AirTran conversion. The new training footprint is going to be a good thing for people with checkride anxiety as it gets the oral over at around week three, but I do believe it opens the fire hose up a little earlier. Six days a week the first two weeks. I am very glad to be here and the company has treated us wonderfully.
For what it's worth the class break down of new hires is about 13-5 mil to civ. A good spread of fighter, transports, tankers, regional, freight and corporate. goodluck to anyone trying to get on now. I think it's a great time to get over here and I would like some more people below me on the list.

Thanks for squashing that stupid rumor. Let us know how the new training footprint goes. The old one was bad for your liver. 4 weeks of doing basically nothing and then two weeks of firehose. Sounds like they are spreading out the pain and hopefully incorporating more procedural training and actual line experience, not some 75 year old guy who flew blimps and has never flown a transport aircraft (yes, it's true) teaching me how to do a V1 cut.
