This all depends on the domicile and trip trading, but it's been good for me. It's a good gig.

Looking forward to checking out the new contract, and never voting for PBS.
How many days did you work during those months?

Default Southwest Hiring Info 2016

I shoot for 100-110 TFP per month. Usually use ELITT to trade into higher paying trips. I always try to move my weekend trips to Sunday starts so I have a little extra time with the family on Fridays and Saturdays. And I always bid the 25th off so I can be sitting in front of my computer when ELITT opens for the next month.

The only way I'm flying on a day off is if it's a really easy trip on paper and never for less than 6.5

ELITT is a great way to bump up the pay a bit, provided there are better paying trips on the days you want to work. That still doesn't make the average bid line, much less the min guarantee, 108.

FWIW, it was FAR easier to massage your schedule before SWApA "gained" us the DTC nonsense, which basically locks you into the same days if you have a Fri or Sat start. That was a huge "gain" for the junior guys!

I had 13 days off in July and was credited with 126 TFP, none of which was premium bidding or open time (which I haven't bid). That month was pretty messed up with weather and other operational issues resulting in the higher TFP.

Being junior, I can't hold weekends off but I can hold blanks. I bid blank PM lines so I can trade trips, and monitor ELITT throughout the month. I've been awarded two blanks with no reserve, which helps.

I have 16 days off this month, with an initial guarantee of 93 TFP and no reserve.

Agreed. Why can't I trade from a red day to a red day? It makes no sense. The trips have to be covered by someone.
I get that reserve manning on weekends is an issue, but if reserves weren't our open time bullpen, it wouldn't be an issue. It kills me to watch the guessing game of assigning reserves vs premium open time only to watch schedules flail at the 11th hour when there are operational hiccups.
They need to keep a contingent of reserves set aside for emergency type stuff, not assign them all to open time trips.

As I said, I HAVE seen that kind of schedule, and you and the other guy can have them.

I'm no math whiz, but that sounds like a lot less than 108......

Yes! Yes! 1000 times Yes! Reserves are like insurance. Buy it, hope never to have to use it. Cost of doing business.

On an unrelated topic, (and since I am rarely a glass half full kind of guy) Vacation at SW is a heck of a good deal.

I took two weeks of vacation, one in week two of a month, and the other in week four. Since every trip that touches vacation drops (with full or partial pay) I will be off from around the 9th of the month through the 10th of the following month. How much it pays is dependent upon whether I am able to hold the most lucrative lines with regard to trips dropped. There is a website to help sort vacation lines, but as with most things, seniority is the horsepower that makes stuff happen. I have very little horsepower.

Speaking of vacation. How many weeks of vacation does a new hire get? How does that increase over time? Thanks.
