I figure $97.35 TFP for second year pay. This exceeds current third year pay.

My understanding is this doesn’t make a difference for the pilot application process. Rocky stated at this year’s WAI that they only look at the Pilot Credentials website and that they are working on removing the Southwest.com application process, completely, for pilots.

I’ve been told many times that once you get an interview you can request internal recommendations via the Pilot Credentials site and prior to that they do not help you.

I'm trying to get an idea of the compensation for a two year FO. I don't exactly know the TFP conversion, so I'm mixing a little off of what I could find from APC and want I hear from the latest TA. So, here is what I'm assuming:

Year: 2018
Position: 2 Year FO
Current TFP: $85
Annual TFPs: 1250
TA Raise: 15/3/3
401(k): 10% matching
B Fund: 15%
Profit Sharing: 0.156 (Big Assumption - used 2015 data)

From my calculations, it appears that this gives a salary of $104 TFP based off the new TA raise. At 1250 TFPs per year, that's $130,000 salary. When you add the 10% match from the company, that's another $13,000. When you add the profit sharing (assumption), that's another $20,280 (130K x .156). When you add the B-Fund, that's another $19,500. That becomes total compensation of $182,780 for a two year FO. All this just from salary, 401(k), B-fund, and profit sharing. Am I way off with these numbers? Feel free to correct the math or change the equation to make it more realistic. Also, not sure if the 10% matching on the 401(k) was here to stay with the new TA.

Again, sorry for the distraction. Just seemed liked the best possible thread and wasn't worth a new one.

The 401k match will go away with a B fund. Also, profit sharing will not remain that high. The law of averages says that it will dip significantly in coming years and possibly go to zero.
All your other assumptions appear to be about right though. We have yet to see the final language or even the final bullet points though, so I wouldn't get too excited. This AIP may not even pass a BOD vote for all we know. I know a lot of current pilots here are spending their retro already, but if section 1 doesn't pass muster or there are glaring holes elsewhere, we may be back to the table.

Oh that's all I gotta do?! Of course that's the plan but one does not just poop out TPIC. See there's a whole process. Seniority, positions available, upgrade classes run blah blah blah. You get the picture, right?

I am interested in SWA vs AA views . FULL DISCLUSURE : I do have a flow to AA soon ish, I am in my young 50's and will unlikely upgrade at my next airline regardless. Last year I declined an interview with SWA for two reasons (1) 401k 9.5 % match vs 16% contribution (2) pay rates , although hard to place a true value on SWA pilots ability for premium pay. This AIP has given me reason to reconsider whether I made the right decision before. I still have invite dates to interview posted on my pilot credentials profile. Whether that would be honored I am not sure.

Items I struggle with:
- it seems that earnings potential at SWA with premium pay are high compared to AA straight hourly/minimum guarantee. Thoughts or examples ?
- min days off SWA 14/15 for RSV?
- RSV TFP year one increase to $80 and does that roughly equate to $92 per hour?
- BWI or HOU bases are likely in 6 months ?
- Short term disability and long term disability program improvements ?
- I have TRICARE medical, so I'm not familiar with pro's or con's with either SWA/AA medical plans. AIP improvements ?
- other glaring improvements?

I understand a lot of personal decisions have to be made that only I can make and a successful interview is needed. I understand the AIP may or may not pass, but my decision to peruse has to come soon. Your opinion is valued if you care to share. Feel free to PM me

Try selecting one of those dates and see what it does. What do you have to lose?

With that said where do you live or want to live? Living in domicile is a big deal at Southwest.

If you select a date, the only way to cancel is via HR (don't think that's good) or no-show (couldn't do that ). The domicile issue is open and I'm not committed to being a long term commuter. So moving would be in my future and that's OK. I have read many post that living in domicile is what makes the opportunity for premium workable. THANKS for your response !

All I see is whining. How long did it take them to drop the type rating? You think they will drop it because they are increase wages? Unless Delta comes out with a killer a TA don't expect the TPIC to come down.
