So.... just what kind of pilot is SWA looking for? All of you have quite a bit of time/experience. Are they looking for an outgoing, fun but professional type or more the conservative style.
I realise there is more to the interview session but honestly was just curious since most of you all have some great experience.

They love military folks. A lot. Especially F-teen pilots from the academies. In the civilian world they look for competitively experienced pilots that have also sought out leadership opportunities at their airlines or corporate flight departments - chief pilots, check airmen, safety, standards, etc... They have obviously hired regular old line pilots (and will have to do more of that in the future) but at the moment you need something to set yourself apart from the crowd of similarly qualified RJ Captains.

I found it interesting that the latest vacancy bid that just came out had 54 upgrades but only 20 new hire FO slots. Normally NH classes are 24(+) so it's pretty obvious they had no shows and/or drop outs.

BUT it all comes down to the interview!
Good luck all!

If you're mil the job is yours to lose. Those were the exact words of a recruiter I talked with in March at WIA.
If your coming from the 135 world just hope that eventually your companies name will get drawn from the hat. That sounds like I'm being bitter in saying that but it's pretty accurate. The peoples department is not familiar with the houndreds of 135 corporate/charter companies out there, and outside of the major 3 (NetJets, Flexjets, and XO) they will only look at a small percentage of 135 resumes. On top of that make sure you're setting yourself apart by being in some sort of leadership role and get really good at praying.

reserve is usually 3 or 4 day blocks with 3 days off in-between. you'll get at least one stretch of 4 off. 15 days off for rsv, could end up with 16 off in a 31 day month. Guarantee is 90 tfp, with 6 tfp for every rsv day added on due to monthly overlap, etc.

As a reserve pilot, is it common to have flights assigned well in advance (more than 24 hours)? Do you have anything similar to a call me first/last preference system? How difficult would it be to group a stretch of 15 days off without using vacation (such as back to back days off across two months)? Thanks.
