Seems like the phonecall everyone is anxiously waiting for happens around the 5-8 week point as others have mentioned.
Good luck to all those with their ringers on full blast and their phones glued to their hip who are hoping to be one of the lucky ones!

I was in the 12/7 group and 6 of our 12 have already found out their fate. (5 of 6 received good news). As I was told, "there doesn't seem to be any sort of rhyme or reason as to when they call." But for those of us who haven't heard yet, no news is good news, right?

For those in the know, I have a question about choosing my base.
I'll be commuting out of RSW, and it looks like MDW or BWI would provide the best commute for me (I know MCO and ATL aren't happening anytime soon).
-Both have direct flights from RSW (looks like BWI has a few more than MDW)
-My sister lives in the Chicago area (but actually lives out by ORD, not sure how much that would help me if I'm on reserve)
-Don't really know anyone in BWI
-I read elsewhere on this forum that the crashpad situation may be better at MDW but really have no idea if this is true or how to find out info on crashpads.
Any thoughts about which base I should put higher on the bid list?
The airline/commuting world is all new to me, thanks for your help.

Choose MDW for your transition line (if you get one) and for your hard line. After that, keep an eye on those reserve lines and who is getting them, BWI may be better to work commutable trips eventually...or it may not if the schedule changes!
Watch out for when the schedule changes and hope that vacancy bidding continues to happen monthly and you'll be just fine!

SWALife>Flight Ops>Domiciles>MDW (or any of the other domiciles)>Local Info>Crashpads
Both MDW and BWI have multiple options available.

Dallas has several crashpads on Burbank st. adjacent to the training center and the GO. No vehicle required. If you commute to/from Love field you can use the company shuttle. If you commute to/from DFW airport the Burbank Station dart rail stop is steps from the front door.
The place I stayed in was a 3 bedroom house. Two girl rooms, one boy room. 3-4 bunk beds for room. Your bed is your bed (no hit sheets). Each room had shelves for each resident, a tv, and a fridge. In the common room there was a wide screen tv with cable, wifi, etc. Several restaurants deliver. I can provide the number for the landlord if anybody needs it.
Hotels are better than crashpads, but there's something to be said for knowing that you always have a bed even during the worst winter storm. It was $220 per month.

I have more! Why do they call crew scheduling "skeds" instead of "scheduling", or "crew sched"?
How come they don't call trips "sorties"? And is anyone bummed out that you can't write your callsign on the side of the plane or your helmet?
