If I were less than 45 and less than half up the seniority list, I'd be fishing like crazy for another major's job.
The one bright shining star we have is job security which would be jettisoned so fast at the first opportunity under the current tone deaf management.

Gotta love arbitrary numbers.
No offense, but playing devils advocate: when UAL e.g. does furlough, how many do you think it'll be?
I'll give you a hint, use THOUSANDS.
Jumping from ship to ship is not everyones endeavor.

Does anyone know if being a former SWA employee will help get an interview when I have the time? I worked in the NOC if it helps! Thanks.

Of course it will help!
Plus, you get your old EE number, hence you won't have to listen to incessant chatter about how high your new employee number is (which is really irritating and is vintage swa).

when SWA furloughs how many will it be? BTW, the rumor of SWA never furloughing is NOT because mgt didn't try, but they usually get the credit.

I've got a better idea... why don't all of you senior gents advising us to leave instead go and fulfill your lifelong dream of flying heavies as a captain? You can go to China with only 737NG PIC time and land into a direct entry B-777 or B-787 captain position... no seniority system holding you back or having to start in the right seat. Nope - straight into the left seat.

Don't like China? There's the sandbox too... Emirates, Etihad, Qatar... all fighting for pilots, and all fly brand new heavies too and take direct entry captains with PIC time on 737NG. Don't worry about licenses - they take care of all that for you.

All pay pretty handsomely... especially in China where they also take care of your US tax liability. And the best part? Forget hotel muffins, you get proper fillet mignon for a crew meal onboard, plus snacks, and FA's whose mandatory retirement age is 42. Do you really just wanna fly the clacked out 737 around the US and pretend you're a big shot international pilot when you go to Aruba (with a muffin of course!) for the rest of your miserable career when you can fly state-of-the-art B-777 or B-787's with proper meals and hot young stews just waiting to pounce on a rich American pilot? What are you waiting for? Vote with your feet if it sucks so bad... there are plenty of options and definitely more money.

Personally, I'll just stick around, drive to work, put my faith in SWAPA and vote my conscience when another TA is presented.

Looks like the people dept. hasn't lost its mojo as far as finding quick to use the "leave" if you don't like it. Well new guy, here is a news flash. Those of us that preach reality WANT to improve this place, or at the least not let it get worse. You "just happy to be here" trolls are the reason why it has gone down in desirability. You clowns have zero self worth or backbone to fight for what is right. Improvements come from risk takers. Neanderthals such as yourself would still be living in caves rubbing two sticks together if it wasn't for those who weren't satisfied with status quo. Your welcome, and the door is available for you to exit as well.

Ironic that the little popup at the bottom of the page was for Emirates? "Hello Tomorrow. Become an Emirates Pilot. Apply now."

You obviously don't follow the industry very well. United has thousands of retirements coming up. Furlough is a pretty remote chance in the near future. And as a history lesson, the LUV airline under Herb did furlough pilots. It was the pilots that agreed to cuts to keep them on property.
