I see the management trolls are now on Airline Pilot Central. The attrition is real. I suggest you review some of the information that SWAPA has put out. If you have any doubt, you could on your own try following the seniority list month to month. I have also personally talked with several pilots who are waiting for their retro check before they accept the recall at their previous airline. Rumor is this number is in the hundreds...

Most of the AA (TWA) guys have received their final "take it or leave it" class dates at AA this summer. They may want to take their money and run, but more likely they will have to make that tough decision before they see another TA here.

27 since Jan is what I have heard. This is from a guy who just quit to go to FedEx. FedEx and United seem to be getting some of them.
A guy named Rxxx Mxxxxxxx left about a year ago. He was awarded 757 Capt on our last bid. Due to the huge training letter, he is scheduled for training in ealry 2018, but that could be moved up if someone wants to trade dates and defer their training a while.
I know another pilot who left UAL for DAL after a year there, and there is always some lateral movement as folks figure out what base/airline best fit their lives. Even if you guys secure a world-class contract, there will still be some attrition out of SWA, and perhaps some into it as well.
However, the current trend is real. I've worked with many of these pilots who have decided to leave. All of them say hitting "send" on the resignation is one of the hardest things they've ever had to do. Its not hate. Its not personal. Its just business...

Poor training? Yes. No crew meals? Yes, BUT if you need food then go get it even if you have to clear customs. The only way the crew meal situation is going to change is if flights start getting delayed from crews going to get food or if OSHA starts getting involved. It's downright insulting for them not to provide us with crew meals on an international turn.

Assuming the other 2 actually leave that makes 12/46 leaving. Isn't that 26%? I realize that's 26% leaving from only 2 classes but it's still 26% and from only one month's worth of classes. I believe that attrition rate will only increase as all 3 legacy retirement numbers skyrocket in the coming decade. Maybe GK & Co. figure 26% attrition is still cheaper than an industry standard contract. Who knows?

That's interesting. Swalife shows 22 starting the class and only 17 are still on the seniority list. Maybe I missed a couple of requals or instructors. If so, mea culpa.

72 hours in Paris, 60 hours in SFO, or my recent 48 hours in Singapore at a 5 star hotel at full trip rig didn't hurt. To each his own, but I rather enjoy wasting a day or two playing tourist and enjoying local food and beverages. The pay is the same as doing 2-3 legs and up to 8 hours block.

How is it insulting?
We pilots ASKED for no crew meals, override or any other industry standard items when we voted yes on the international side letter.
We got exactly what we voted for, as usual.........

I chose SWA because of base and the fact I'll never have to do a 11 day trip. I like being productive and enjoy getting more days off than some of my friends.
As much as people complain about the negotiations, this place is a cake walk compared to other airlines. Get the pay and retirement on par with the others and I'll be happy.

The union gave away the store at every opportunity via concessionary contracts and side letters, which has brought us right back to where we were 20 years ago, which is well behind the other majors in just about every measurable way.
Fortunately, as of this year, we have a new bunch in there, and they are working for the pilots for a change.
