Well, you have a valid point. I've heard of that happening and have been told by a lot of airline pilots to not do that. However, we aren't all like that. In fact, those are the types that I'm trying to get away from. Toxic leadership and dudes with HUGE egos in the fighter world is a problem and I absolutely detest it. That sucks that they are finding their way over to the airlines.

We're not all like that! Back to getting hired at Southwest. I sincerely wish everyone the best of luck!

Just to give some insight to those that want to come to Southwest or have an interview or are waiting to go to class. I was in the Feb 10 class. Got a line for April as normal SOP for getting the 100 hours. RSV in OAK for May. However, it looks like most new hires are coming to Oakland initially for a month and then getting the option to move. There were not a lot of vacancies for May but summer is coming (SWA guys correct me if Im wrong) With new hires coming to OAK i have 30 guys below me already. If SWA is where you want to be keep working it. Get in contact with all the people you know. As stated previous 600+ this year.

There's 3 new classes going to be bidding for June. So roughly 70+ new hires. Should be a decent sized bid....or at least I'm hoping so I can be based at home.

As a new hire, if you get based in Phoenix, you may be "lucky" enough to fly with "Maverick", or just "Mav" to those lucky enough to know him.

No joke, it is what he wants to be called, it is his real military call sign. You just can't make this fecal matter up.

To add more fuel to that fire, I've heard they may be looking at up to 800 newhires this year. They've been pretty firm on the 616 number since last fall, but additional classes over the busy summer months would support what I've heard on the line. Take it for what it's worth.

I know it's been asked before (already forgot the answer) but should internal recs on SWA life be completed just prior to the actual interview or should they be submitted after? Thanks.

Well that's good news. That's over 10% of the pilot group. With that being said maybe some folks will stop saying what a horrible place this is due to long upgrades! 🤓

Are you talking about huge names you fill in on PC?
If so, go ahead and fill them in any time.
All the other recs can either be handed as paper copies at your interview day or submitted any time after you are selected to interview up until your hiring committee meeting. That includes the internal swalife recs.

Nobody is as happy about the hiring as me. That being said, unless some of these geezers start retiring early (hint - they never do), it is still going to be slow going on the upgrade front compared to other majors.
