Those were either because your scheduled outbound flt got cancelled or a holiday/Saturday reduction in schedule, right? Certainly not something that happens frequently by any stretch.

SWA layover times are regional airline length and then add a few hours. That's not necessarily a bad thing. 15 hours is plenty to eat, drink, get rest and maybe even work out.

But damn, I'll miss the 24 hour PUJ, AUA, and Mo Bays

Thankfully, we don't get stuck with too many real long layovers in PIT etc. The longest ones are around 19-20 hours, but even they are not real common and those trips are usually not productive.

The PIT layover was scheduled that way. The APPLE shuffle. I had a July, 3 years ago, with over 130+ hours of LAX layover. A 45 hour over the 4th with a couple of 33 hour and the standard 24 hour redeyes. Hopefully SWA schedules will be more efficient. I will miss the long BWI and LAS layovers.

As an AT FO I will probably get those non productive trips when I cross over. That said I did enjoy my time in PIT as I had a friend pick me up and go to the range for some target shooting and then to Primanti's restaurant for a big Pitt burger. Food at the hotel was decent and the staff was friendly. Good workout facilities. Expensive beer though.

In the layovers - isn't that a) a rarity and b) not set up like a long layover? When you had the 60 hr LAX layover was yr hotel in Santa Monica/Manhattan Beach or at the airport? It seems if there is any distance between the airport and downtown then the SWA layover hotels are always at the airport - layovers aren't supposed to be enjoyable. How about Denver or BWI? Downtown?

Yes I know you'd rather work then spend time away from home and that's why SWA is good for you but a lot if guys enjoy the travel as part of the job (and still work a lot less than SWA). Just a difference.

The least productive three day pays 19.5TFP and 4 day 26TFP. Those are minimums and many pay more.
The downtown PIT hotel is walking distance to Primanti Brothers and I often stop in for a sandwich while I'm there.
Our food and drink specials are pretty great almost anywhere we stay.

I enjoy the extra grand+ $ difference in pay between a 19.5 and 25 3 day, but thats just me.

If you are a burger officionado, charleston has this place (3 locations actually) called sesame burgers and beer. I don't know layover hotel locations, but I cannot put into words how unbelievable their take on burgers and sides is. Their beer selection is impeccable too. Well worth the cab fare if you are laying over there. Yum!
