None. Hope you're enjoying your new career path, although overnights in Pordenone are gonna be pretty tough to beat. I did DOD flying as well and partied with your crews in Italy on occasion.

Ah Pordenone...yes, very fond of that little town.

Are guys getting calls with right at 1000 TPIC? Or is it still competitive to have twice that?

Also, what are some of the biggest things SWA looks for in an applicant outside of the norm (Check airmen, 1000 tpic, 737 type, kills kittens for fun, etc)

I was recently hired with the following qualifications:

9500 total
4500 jet pic (cl65)
300 turbine pic (c208)
ATP
CFI/II
cl65 & b737 type ratings
Higher Power grad.
10 years at regional airline
Civilian
Not check airman

From what I've heard, aside from the minimum requirements they like to see some form of leadership role. For example military service, line check airman, company instructor, ect. Though the type rating is not required for an interview, I believe most, if not all of the recent interviewees had it. The reason was that they needed these pilots on line ASAP and they didn't have the time to wait for pilots to go get it after being offered a job.

Hope this info helps!

If you're sincerely interested in SWA, you might consider leaving out the kitten references when making these kinds of inquiries. It's getting a more than a little old.

Sorry, didn't mean to disrespect. I thought it was a joke that SWA pilots said amongst themselves.

Yes, but not everyone has a sense of humor..........apparently.

I get that...it certainly comes up around here a lot but the only place I've ever heard that joke is on this website.

Yes, I'm personally annoyed by this "humor" (and not just because of where I work), but the point is that you're seeking info about hiring…imagine bringing it up during an interview. Probably wouldn't go over too well…remember that these forums are not as anonymous as we'd like to think.

But on topic:

I interviewed in late 2011 for an early 2012 class date. My background is all civilian and almost exclusively Part 135/91...I spent a couple of years at a regional but left before upgrading due to stagnation. At my 135 carrier I was a chief pilot, director of operations, sim instructor, check airman, and got a decent amount of near international experience over about a 5 year timeframe. Higher Power 737 type before interview with NG differences class.
