Hiring -- have the calls started yet

whats their training backlog log? Since they have to get AirTran guys switched over, do they do any sims or do they just do a quick ground school and get sent out to the line? im thinking with the amount of integration training that has to be done, that could be a limiting factor in bringing on new hires?

Wow, that's a lot of training. I would think this would reaaaally slow new hiring. Congrats to those who are getting some paid time off, at least it's some consolation for your raw deal

Has anyone gotten an interview invite with the minimum 1000tpic (civ guys) or do they have a lot more + check airmen/etc type quals?
Any predictions on how competitive it will be going forward seeing everyone else is hiring?

And to top it off, it wasn't their fault.

It's not much different than a certain carrier I worked for that code shared with them and went TU in 2008. I lost my seat, 160k per year, 14 years of seniority, (20 if you look at it like I'll be at the bottom of the list this month,) self esteem, etc.
Took me 3 years to recover.
My lesson? Life is too precious to be angry all the time. If you're not doing what you love, with whom you love and where you love it, you'll be unhappy no matter what.
Your mileage may vary.

Not that what SWA did to you guys was right, but we were not a company that was in dire straights and bankruptcy.
I appreciate the words of wisdom.....truly I do. It actually means something coming from you as you've been through the ringer. Quite different than the average SW pilot who's out of the Air Force, SW is his first airline and he doesn't have any idea of what "fair and equitable" means when it comes to our industry. The simple fact is that many of us can't just simply snap our fingers and make what was obviously a concerted effort by SWA & SWAPA to eff us out of our seats and lots of seniority, go away. It'd be much easier if we could, but we can't. I've flown with some ex-ATA guys that are now feeling the "Golden Rule" the second time around. Imagine how happy they are with all things SWA.
Well, anyway just PM me if you want to chat further as I'd like to keep this on topic for the new-hires and those that are trying to get hired. They've got nothing to do with this family feud.
