Delta will get most if not all of the DCA slots.

Directly from the DOJ:

Assistant Attorney General Bill Baer of the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division. This settlement will disrupt the cozy relationships among the incumbent legacy carriers

Specifically, the settlement requires the companies to divest or transfer to low cost carrier purchasers approved by the department

By guaranteeing a bigger foothold for low-cost carriers at key U.S. airports, this settlement ensures airline passengers will see more competition on nonstop and connecting routes throughout the country

According to the DOJ, Delta need not apply.

So more $49 seats to MCO for once a year vacation travlers who are least effected by airport convenience. All provided by unelected "lawmakers" pulling fake legislation out their rear ends to fluff off populist media pundits.

The best thing for DL would be for DL to be able to bid on some of the slots. The second best thing for DL would be for all legacies to be "locked out" by cabinet level legislator activists and force all those slots to go to smaller network so called LCC's like JB/NK or larger higher cost carriers like SW.

Congressmen and men like Richard Anderson get what they want. Anderson got a 42% raise and the Delta pilots are getting a 3% increase in our bankruptcy pay, a 33% reduction in profit sharing and increased medical costs.

We will see who gets the DCA slots.

Gary Kelly got a 40% raise and we are stalled in section 6 negotiations for increased compensation, so what's your point?

You really think congress is going to step in and tell the DOJ how they can handle antitrust regulation? You really think congress wants to step in and demand that legacy carriers continue the status quo to the detriment of competition (whether it be real or imagined)?

Good luck with that!

I know that DCA is an exception. These congressmen care about themselves and little else. They want nonstop service to THEIR small hometown, not more flights by small carriers to big cities already served and that desire is bipartisan.

Gary Kelly is a failure, certainly no Richard Anderson. Gary is riding a nightmare filled with powerful unions that make many times the legacy carriers non pilot workforce. Chapter 11 allowed management to move these workers to minimum wage, part time or transferred to 3rd party vendors. SWA must continue to pay these workers more and more. A 3% raise for someone on minimum wage is a lot less than a 3% raise for a SWA bag handler. The gap grows and SWA cannot compete.

SWA is on a slow downward spiral.

I'm sure you are right about the DCA slots, Delta will get none. Thanks for setting me straight.

You're absolutely correct, Kelly is no Anderson.

Kelly did not preside over $4 billion in losses at Northwest between 2001-2006. During those years Kelly was VP of finance and then CEO of a company that continued to add to its 30 consecutive years of profitability.

Kelly did not gut employee contracts in bankruptcy with such popular ideas as NewCo and GroundCo. NewCo set out to establish a low-cost regional carrier that brought back laid-off pilots with a new wage of $58,000, less than half of their previous salary of $120,000. GroundCo sought to wipe out 5,000 of the 14,000 jobs held by various airport ground workers and ticket agents. Kelly did not reneg on billions promised to creditors through BK.

You are absolutely correct, Kelly is no Anderson.

I think you misunderstood. I'm no Anderson fan. Gary is a much nicer guy. My posts are just facts that exist. Anderson got a 42% raise and we got 3%.

I was just explaining why Delta will get the DCA slots.

Don't kill the messenger. I'm on the pilots side. I hope you guys make major gains.
