Again, you are incorrect.

The language in SL10 says, on 1/1/15 or until the last AirTran pilot has transitioned.

This Agreement shall expire on the later of January 1, 2015 or when the last AirTran pilot transitions to Southwest, (excluding the requirement that a former AirTran pilot be a member of a merger committee), and all conditions and restrictions contained in Section 27 of the SWAPA CBA, ALPA letters of agreement and any other referenced or binding agreements specific to the AirTran-Southwest seniority list integration shall in all other respects be null and void the later of January 1, 2015, or when the last AirTran pilot transitions to Southwest

Section F of SL-10

"AirTran Pilots will be prohibited from holding a Captain or Lance Captain position on the Southwest 737 until the January 2015 bid period"

No mention of transitioned or not transitioned. I guess we'll see what happens next year!

I believe the ATL CPO agrees with V169's interpretation.

I believe the Q and A section directly addresses this scenario.

From the SL 10 Q and A section:

Q. How will future 737 captain vacancies be filled?

A. Until January 1, 2015, all 737 Captain will be filled by current Southwest pilots. After that date, Captain vacancies at SWA will be determined by system seniority.

Yes. However. You must 1st be a Southwest pilot and subject to the provisions of SL10.

As I pointed out in an earlier post, there is now only one way to go from ATN to SWA. Every ATN pilot now has an award of SWA 737FO. That is the only way to transition.

Assuming there are still 717's on property on 1/1/15 (there will be, at least 30 of them), ATN 717 CAs must bid for and be awarded a SWA training date. That award can only be 737FO. While they are in DAL training, they can bid, and be awarded 737CA, but they must complete indoc/sim/IOE as FO.

SL10 bars ATN pilots who have transitioned to SWA prior to 1/1/15 from holding 737 CA (even though there are a few who could currently hold it).

I agree that there very well be a small orphaned fleet of 717's at AT after 1/1/15. However, SWA has stated that any remaining 717 airframes will be parked. At some point there is simply too small a number of airframes remaining to run a realistic schedule, but the larger problem is that any remaining airframes that continue in revenue service will be a direct scope violation.

Management has consistently stated to SWAPA that they will make the deadline for transitioning ALL AT pilots prior to the '15 deadline. Whether not that happens remains to be seen. In the end I agree that AirTran pilots must in fact begin the transition as F.O's. but after 1/1/15 system seniority will be the only factor relevant in filling future vacancies.

Really? I didn't see that in the arbitrator's decision anywhere.

ALPA loses. SWAPA wins. Every ATN CA will be an FO.

Do you need pictures?
Shoelu explained it. Thanks though.

Can you provide your source for this? In writing or video? We have heard exactly the opposite.

SWA has said they will not park them. SWAPA says they will.

You really think SWA will idle 700 pilots with pay?

"The transition of these aircraft to Delta started in July of 2013, and will continue through January 2015. At which time any, any remaining aircraft are planned to be removed from revenue service until they are transitioned to Delta."
