Arbitrator rules in favor of ALPA
#71
Rizzo,
Rolf and others have it right. ALPA's only game plan was arbitration. hurt the line pilots of AirTran. And yes, the MEC overplayed that hand by voting down the agreement.
Plenty on this forum said you'd get ONE good bite at the SLI apple. That's exactly what happened. Then your MEC choked on that one bite. Game over.

Swapa knew we'd get a fair shake in arbitration and hid behind uncle Gary's skirt when it looked like it was going in that direction. If all you have is arbitration to get a fair shake, what's wrong with going down that road?

that didn't happen. It is what it is now and so be it. If you would like to redo this merger of pilots I suggest you create a game and sell it to xbox. This one is done and in the history books. Now, if you want to bring it up in the cockpit-- I say go for it.. You will have some that take it but most will go home. For me, I will just look at you like a cyclops and ask for another coffee, black of course. Have fun with your dribble and I will enjoy the paycheck. good luck Frank.

SW pilots bargaining agent is SWAPA, therefore they are one in the same.
Overplay our hand? Is that what we did by declining a crappy seniority integration proposal? Since when is arbitration a radical idea?
We are where we are because SW and SWAPA conspired to screw us over. Management doesn't care who sits in the left seat or how much seniority AT pilots retain. SWAPA cares, and management stepped in to fight their battles for them. An arbitrated list would have likely looked much different and SWAPA knew that.

I don't even know how you can stand to argue with these people anymore, Frank. They're in their own little "we did nothing wrong and you should just be happy with the !$job that was handed down to you" world.
Whatever. What comes around goes around and they'll hopefully get theirs one day. This industry has a way of doing that. I'll make it a point to laugh out loud and point my finger at them when that time comes even if I'm being further harmed in the process because sometimes revenge can be so damned sweet.

Who said anything about bringing this up in the cockpit? If the topic does come up, it won't be by me...but if it does, I'll certainly have an opinion, and I doubt anyone will be able to make a coherent argument considering the facts.
SWAPA was scared of arbitration. They conspired with management and played dirty pool to get a lopsided SLI. It's really that simple.
Anyway...aside from the SLI B.S.
There has been a real tragedy here on the AT side of the partition today. I just don't have it in me to argue about this petty crap right now.

Frank and Whack - You two can believe what you want. Good luck. Most SWA pilots believe something else. We were and still are in some cases left in the dark. Please try to think outside of the box, everyone got affected somehow, everyone. Please try to think how your hostility can be used for a greater good. If you cannot, then it is time to move on with your career somewhere else.
Life is short, try to enjoy it somehow.

Then you can group us in with MANY other pilots out there (including most of those not involved with anything SWA/AT) that see it exactly the same way. Crawl back in your little hole because you're the delusional one.
