Was told in training last month to expect 300+ for 3Q 2015. This would mean hiring window open April/May, with 737 type "desired" but no longer "required" (see previous posts).
Base seniority has drastically changed because of the integration--the further east you go, the more senior for FOs. Don't expect ATL/MCO/BWI, but pilots are getting to DAL in month two.

I have taken a straw poll over the past 8 months and the results are that nobody really cares. It was a dumb requirement to begin with, and I think most guys are glad it's gone.
The vast majority of captains that I have flown with have had nothing but great things to say about the former airtran dudes they have flown with. My personal interaction with all of them has also been nothing short of fantastic. I know there are the 1 percent who have a chip on their shoulder, but you find that with OSW guys too. I am a reserve, so I have flown with a few of them.
I am actually amazed that SWA has responded so quickly to the hiring economy and reality of the situation. I hope that we get some quality guys hired in the next round with and without the type.
FWIW I wouldn't hold my breath for the pic requirement going away anytime soon. There are still tons of applicants with the required time.

Ditto. I know quite a few SWA guys and that's more or less what they've all said when I spoke to them on the subject. I think SWA was smart to get rid of the requirement based on all the hiring going on at their competitors now and in years to come relative to the size of the qualified applicant pool. I'm sure they don't want to see all the best qualified candidates go to Delta, AA, etc.

I am sure this is going to make a lot of current SW pilots very unhappy. I have a couple of friends there that said there are already a lot of people up in arms because the AirTran guys were getting a free type. Now if a new hire gets a free type will the wheels come off the bus?

Quick side note. ..Gary's reluctance to make a genuine effort to complete the Pilots contract...coupled with the lack of communicating no long term substantial picture or goals is creating a lot of angst over there. ..sad part is I don't think Gary cares
