Base seniority has drastically changed because of the integration--the further east you go, the more senior for FOs. Don't expect ATL/MCO/BWI, but pilots are getting to DAL in month two.
Add DEN to that list

The vast majority of captains that I have flown with have had nothing but great things to say about the former airtran dudes they have flown with. My personal interaction with all of them has also been nothing short of fantastic. I know there are the 1 percent who have a chip on their shoulder, but you find that with OSW guys too. I am a reserve, so I have flown with a few of them.

I am actually amazed that SWA has responded so quickly to the hiring economy and reality of the situation. I hope that we get some quality guys hired in the next round with and without the type.
FWIW I wouldn't hold my breath for the pic requirement going away anytime soon. There are still tons of applicants with the required time.
I agree with E6b, I've only heard guys say that it was a pointless requirement and that they hope it changes.

Ditto. I know quite a few SWA guys and that's more or less what they've all said when I spoke to them on the subject. I think SWA was smart to get rid of the requirement based on all the hiring going on at their competitors now and in years to come relative to the size of the qualified applicant pool. I'm sure they don't want to see all the best qualified candidates go to Delta, AA, etc.

Which just goes to show you how completely out of touch with industry standard practices they are that they'd be pi$$ed about that. Not surprising though. These are the same people that wanted to put ALL of us on probation at SW after transitioning/downgrading over, up to and including our most senior Cptns.

"They" would be idiots to contribute to having the "wheels come off the bus"....it's called progression. ..it was long overdue. .Southwest. ..While they have good work rules. ..is still not at the top of the list as the place to be.....Right or wrong it is what it is. ...
Quick side note. ..Gary's reluctance to make a genuine effort to complete the Pilots contract...coupled with the lack of communicating no long term substantial picture or goals is creating a lot of angst over there. ..sad part is I don't think Gary cares

Some of us are just hoping to be hired so the best place to be is the place you get hired.

Back in the dark ages, with the type, ground school was much shorter and it lowered the insurance cost. Does not make a difference nowadays.

Didn't realize that. That makes sense with the memo that went out.

Last ATN transition class starts this week. One rumor was classes about August with announcement in a few weeks.
