Southwest hiring info

Some of the January guys got BWI and MDW but if they left now, they probably couldn't bid back to those domiciles for a while. Best to expect OAK, PHX, LAS and be pleasantly surprised if you get something else.

Over the summer when hiring averaged approx. 30/month, most new hires could expect Oak month 1. Phx/Las month 2. Hou/Dal/Mdw month 3, and BWI in month 4. If you were in the top 5 or so in your class or if there were two classes of new hires that month you could reasonably subtract a month from those numbers.
It took about 6 months of steady hiring for new hires to start squeaking into Den and none made it into Atl/Mco due to AT conversions.
My personal guess is that a 2013/2014 new hire will make it into MCO by the time the next 300 are hired and it will be at least 5 years before ATL opens up for them.

I agree with stitches above. I will also add that there is a distinct possibility of another base opening soon or perhaps a mini domicile. When you look at the number of aircraft that we overnight in places like BNA, we must be getting a hell of a deal at the hotel for that to be a money maker.
It all depends on base growth and movement. As FAT guys bid to the left seat, I think we are going to see a lot of guys spreading out across the map. There is potential for big movement in the next year without much growth.
That being said, I don't see MCO or ATL going junior any time soon. Of course, if you would have told my buddy the DAL FO who was going on his third year in Oakland where he would be in six months last January, he would have spit milk out of his nose laughing.

My money is on Nashville opening up as a domicile very soon. One of the MTF's this year is being held in Nashville. I think that is the first time a MTF has been held in a non domicile city.....hmmm, maybe a big announcement coming at the Nashville MTF?
That being said, I am not in favor of mini domiciles at all. It does nothing but dilute the available open time trips and pilot-to-pilot trades available overall.

Yes. OAK does not get a Rally (new name for the MTF).
BNA has been a base rumor for 20 years.

Curious. I understand where TFP came from, but why did they never switch to simple hourly pay rates? Makes it much harder to compare apples to apples when looking at the SW contract vs other airlines.
