Be patient. It took my class almost four weeks from getting the "hired" call to the offer of a class. From what I recall they will give you at least two weeks notice.

Yes, it's true. It's possible to get hired without a type rating. It's also possible to retire off lottery winnings but it's certainly not a recommended strategy for most people.
The 2 posts on this page and the 2 others I'm aware of bring the grand total of guys/gals that I know of hired without the type this year to 4... Out of 450! Folks, those aren't good odds.
For each of those 4 guys I (personally) know another 4 that were offered an interview within a month of procuring their type rating.
No offense to you FL180 but I hate to see people get false hope from your post and those of the guys hired without the type. I don't want to re-hash the whole type rating debate and yes I expect that as hiring picks up over the next few years the importance of the type will diminish.
In the meantime my personal experience is that my type paid for itself (I used the GI bill) in about 2 months of working at swa and probably wouldn't take more than 9 months for a guy who paid $7-8k out of pocket to fully recover when comparing first year pay at the next best paying legacy carrier.
And congrats and welcome to the new hires!
