But if you live near a SWA city you can offset some of that pain by grabbing home overnights in ELITT or trip-trade or even your initial bid. Nothing breaks up a four day as nicely as 13 to 20 hours at home in the middle. Hell, I just worked a three day with double home-station overnights and felt like a real dad for once.
Disclaimer: I've never commuted and/or flown 121 before.

If I'm lucky enough to get the CJO, yes I'll be commuting from RSW. I don't really understand everything quoted above, and I'm trying to figure out what base would work best for an RSW commute (HOU? DAL?) until I could eventually hold MCO. I know MCO wouldn't happen for an eternity but it would be a long term goal.

Thoughts?

And thanks to all those who replied to my previous question.

I think a good option for you could be BWI as a base. There are usually 4 direct flights per day from RSW and new hires can bid into BWI either immediately or very shortly thereafter. No direct flights from RSW to either Texas base and a 2 leg commute isn't very nice.

BWI without a doubt. Plus that base has a fair share of RSW overnights.

Good luck with job search.

I recently started working here and I live in Tampa. My first month I got OAK, second month PHX, and I'm almost positive by the third month I should be able to hold BWI considering three more new hire classes will be bidding in February. BWI looks like the easiest commute for FL guys, but I heard the crash pad situation is much better in MDW so I've considering bidding for MDW until I can hold a hard line out of BWI.
