Despite rumors to the contrary, SW is still very competitive, at least on the civilian side. Check airman, standards, chief pilot, manager of safety /training etc... anything that makes you stand out on paper. Remember a computer is choosing people for the interview. 737 type might give you an extra point. College degree another point. Management yet another. He/she with the most points gets added to the interview stack. Good luck!

Oh please don't think I am suggesting that SWA is easy to get on with, quite the contrary. I am just wondering what gives you points, so I could possibly do something to gain a point or two

Those rumors are funny. I keep getting asked by folks I know at the regionals if it's true that SWA is having a hard time filling classes.
I heard they have 6,000 qualified apps on file so I'd say not.

Pilot shortage???

Upgrade time at some regionals is 0 days to 6 months, and at some LCCs it is 3 years....

No.... that is not a pilot shortage. There will be a pilot shortage when interviewed candidates are offered CA pay with immediate 12 year seniority and classes still can't be filled.

Does anyone have an idea when the next decision board is going to take place?

I was told 5000, but 1000 of those also had the type when the first window opened.

They have a lot of apps on file right now. Recent check airman class was told 650 for this year and forecasting 700 for 2017 with the increased capacity of the new training center. Jumpseat rumor from the source. Take it for what it is worth.

They had one last week and the week prior. Guessing there's one next week so that there won't be one before the holiday.
