Don't forget, the Dart rail in Dallas is pretty good too. For $2.50 you have two hours, or for $5.00 unlimited all day riding. The Burbank train station is right across from the training center. Two stops east there is a Kroger and a few restaurants. A few more stops and you are right downtown. If they put you in the Sheraton, it stops right outside. I wouldn't drive a car personally. Between Uber, Zipcar, and the train you can get anywhere. Somebody in class will have a car. Make friends with them on the first day!

Guys, forgive me if this has been talked about already. Couldn't find anything out there: During the training-center tour last month, Rocky mentioned something about a party for each class, and that spouses are welcome to attend.
Does this take place on the first day? If so, I'm assuming spouses travel on their own dime. Do they send info on this at some point before showing up, or do I have it wrong, and the party is at the end of training?

Thanks!
Starting class Dec 2nd.

Takes place the night before class starts so that everyone is nice and hung over for the welcome speeches.
Spouses/sig ots travel positive space with you to training and return home. It is thrown by the previous class and is an extremely good time.

I'm 3 weeks from start and just got multiple emails including travel information for spouse. You should get all that info soon. BMD

Just behave yourself. My training partner was fired on day 2 due to his actions at the welcome party. You are being watched.

Welcome!

So I've done some research on the 737 Type, and it sounds from this post that it is still helpful to get hired at Southwest??

I'm military with 2200 hours and I'm about to get my ATP. The GI Bill covers the 737 type, so I'm leaning towards doing that for my ATP course.

The #s are definitely in your favor if you have the type on getting the call.

Some facts from my personal experience. I applied in March when the window opened. Nothing for a while.... Got the type and four weeks later the interview invite. Now the second guy from my type course just got the interview invite.
And they only can fit a certain number of non-typed guys in each class due to sim capacity. I don't think that will change with the hiring forecast for next year. While the type will not guarantee an invite, it certainly can help to be on the front edge of the hiring wave which is huge regarding seniority. Since I got the job I know I made the right choice in getting the type. Good Luck!
