References were called yesterday. A very nice sign. But I have a presumptive question (presuming I get the CJO) for those in training or finished relatively recently.

I'm in SoCal area. Would it be worth it to drive one of my cars to training, so I have transpo while there and then when training is finished drive back? I think I understand that I would possibly JS'ing home on weekends? Worth it? Would it help any?

It would certainly be convenient, but boy that's a long drive…
Uber is about $15 give or take from the training center to most of the hotels used for training. You could take quite a few trips with them for what I'd imagine the combined wear and tear on your car, gas, and time to drive.
I know that the Sheraton Galleria was pretty good about taking us to Walmart and local restaurants. The company sets up transportation to and from the training center, and while it's not perfect, it gets the job done.
YMMV

First of all this thread has been great, thanks for all the help!

I was offered a class and completed the drug test, but have not heard anything since then. Should I hear or get something else before the 2 week prior-to-class notice?

Six weeks in Dallas eating the same hotel food gets very old so a car is nice to have if you don't mind the road trip. Weekends are free and with the Wright Amendment gone it's a lot easier to jumpseat to SoCal on a non-stop. Car comes in very handy once you get into sims and are not on the same schedule as the rest of your class traveling to and from the training center. Many folks wind up renting cars with their sim partners so they are not at the mercy of the hotel for transportation, especially if you wind up with a really early/late box time.

That has tipped the scales. If I get the CJO and get a class date, I'll drive to Dallas so I have a car there for the two months. Then drive back after finishing training.

Is there enough time to drive back after training or do they put you in I.O.E. straight away?

There's no requirement for any days off. They move quick with IOE. I had two days off.

You get a break and may even be able to get a few extra days off if you let the training schedulers know you are driving back to California. You might get to fly IOE out of PHX or LAS so worse case you could make a stop on the drive home.

I was wondering the same thing as I have to turn in a resignation letter, so I called SWA myself. I figured maybe there was something else solid saying "you got the job," but according to Kim, the last step is the whiz quiz. Those results are very fast, so if there was a problem you would have known quickly. Since you have the class date, you are in. All you have to do is wait for the materials or whatever they email you.

See you there.

Big congrats!! Sounds like you're just waiting on the training materials and iPad etc. I heard it was less than two weeks from class date that others got the info.
