They had a three year upgrade and I was sitting a third of the way from the top of the Cptn. list in my base after only 10 years. Plus, I got to snorkel in Aruba a few times a month, sail the Ritz Carleton's catamarans occasionally in MBJ, and chase hot foreign chicks in PUJ at the all inclusive night club as well. If we didn't stay down there then in was a nice and productive day turn.

How was AMA, OKC, and HRL treating you before the merger?

So AirTran didn't have long haul flights to glamorous destinations that you prefer but you applied there anyways because they had a three year upgrade and access to hot foreign chicks?

I don't know about you, but I learned early on that chasing a fast upgrade and women wasn't a good idea😉

Maybe it wasn't for you, but it worked just fine for me. I was perfectly happy there making good money, senior as a Cptn in my base, flying good routes in new(er) equipment with some great leftovers. Then the CULTure came along and showed us the LUV.

I feel sad for you if you can't at least understand where I'm coming from, but hey.......whatever........

Easy question for you all. If I have been with a company for five years, and then I upgrade to captain. Am I a five year captain or a one year captain when looking at the pay scales?

Most companies, but not all, you would be a 5 year captain when looking at the pay scales listed on this site.

At all American airlines you'd carry your longevity to the Cptn's side. For example.....most pay scales top out at 12 years. Say you upgrade as a 10 year FO. You'd enter the Cptn's side at 10 years on that pay scale.

A lot of foreign airlines are not like that.....Cathay, Emirates, etc. There you slide back down to year one Cptn's pay.
