Hard to say that it helps at all, from my perspective. It's a box you can check, but I honestly can't see that there's been any correlation between that box and an invite.

But that is extrapolation based only on the data of this discussion thread, so I welcome comment - especially from those with actual knowledge...

I have no personal knowledge of how it helps other than current SWA pilots telling by me that the guy in charge of hiring at SWA says it's a discriminator. Same words from the recruiters at OBAP in April. I wouldn't buy the type based on that, but if you already have it, recruiters say it should give you a leg up.

Full disclosure, I bought mine with the ATP with my GI Bill when it was still required, so I'm hoping it still helps when I'm available in April.

I heard similar (although second hand) from an insider source close to the process.

Have to know the ratio of typed/invited and typed/hired to tell anything, and I doubt that info is forthcoming.

Anyone know if invites are going out?

I've heard that the numbers of typed applicants getting the interview are up.

Also, if you have references called does that mean you're for sure going to be considered at the decision committee? I'm still trying to wrap my head around the whole process.

Everyone who interviews will have their application and interview packet considered at a decision board. If your references are not called then your likelihood of being selected is very low. If your references are called then the interview team thinks you have at least a good chance of being selected by the decision board.

Default Southwest website...anyone having problems?

Southwest website today: [not pilot credentials] I'm attempting to update my profile. There are about six containers on it that all say: "Loading..." School, state of residence, major, etc.

When I click on the correct selection in the drop down menu, nothing happens. It just continues to say "Loading..." Using a macbook air and safari, all pop-up blockers etc are off.

Any ideas? Much appreciated.

You might want to try starting over using a PC and Internet Explorer. Sometimes our IT Dept isn't super up to date and the MacBook Air may not be compatible completely with the application. Just an idea, good luck.

Yep, that was it. Different computer, different browser fixed it. Thanks.
