Thanks e6bpilot. The guy I heard the 25% from said that very few get hired on their first try, but if called to interview again it was much higher. I was hoping that wasn't the case because as competitive as it is now, you'd think most would get the job. I know that SWA is more interested in a cultural fit, and there will always be guys who aren't and won't get the job. Glad to hear that there aren't quotas to only hire a certain number of folks each decision board.
I'm hoping to get the call soon, and preparing now for that day!

When I interviewed I was specifically asked if I did an interview prep. I answered honestly, I said no.
If you do an interview prep, they are specifically concerned that they are getting prepared, canned answers instead of genuine, honest answers. If you are not genuine or if you are not honest, you will not get hired. It is very simple.
Get the gouge that is available, prepare, be yourself. If you do these things, and you are a good match for SWA, you will get the job.

Respectfully, I disagree.

So you didn't get it?
I like the honesty is the best policy motto, always works for me.
But this is exactly what I'm afraid of...

I have met plenty of second timers who are flying the line.

I think as long as you have a good explanation and spin it right, admitting that you had interview prep isn't a bad thing.
"I haven't had a job interview in 10 years, and getting this job is very important to me. I just wanted to make sure I didn't leave anything to chance."
Good interview prep allows you to take your true stories and put them to use answering these goofy TMAAT style questions that are all the rage in interviews. If you are lying, you are doing it wrong and you will get caught eventually.

Talk with the hundreds of clients we've worked with, ECC has worked with, AeroCrew, etc… Ask them if they came away from interview prep with canned answers. Ask them if interview prep made them sound dishonest or not genuine.
The point of good prep is to bring your honest and genuine stories to life and in the best context and format possible. I think if you sat down with us for just two hours, or ECC, or Cage, or whoever, you'd learn a few things.

Respectfully, I disagree. Have you ever received professional interview counseling? It doesn't sound like you have, and that's ok. But don't knock what you're unaware of.

I did an interview prep with FAPA Aero in preparation for my SWA interview and I was not given any canned answers. They simply helped me understand what each question was looking for and how to express my story in a clear and concise way. There are literally hundreds of TMAAT questions they can ask you but you can use the same story for multiple questions. They help you see how you can use YOUR stories for different questions. There are many other benefits to doing an interview prep, his is just one example.
I was asked what type of preparation I did for the interview and specifically about interview prep. I told them all the books I read about SWA, reading the One Report, talking to several different employees of SWA and the interview prep with FAPA Aero. I told them that I wanted to do everything to educate myself about SWA and to be prepared for the interview.
I was hired.
