You guys keep your chins up. If you have the type already, great. If not, and you already have good credentials, you probably stand a good chance of getting an invite. I was in the same boat and then received an email invite for interview from SWA when I least expected it. Interviewed in DAL and then one week prior to my DB received an interview invite from Delta. I have no family members who work in the airline industry, but have a very close knit group of friends who do. When it rains it pours and always seems to happen when you least expect it. I started my career as a 121 FO shortly after 9-11-2001...just horrendous timing. Years of not "getting the call" made me a bit cynical regarding the process to say the least. Perseverance paid off for me and it will for you too. Btw, no 737 type at time of interview. Hang in there.

I'm jealous of these guys who started their airline career post 9/11. I was already at my first major and had been for 2 years by then. You guys make me feel old.

That really puts it in perspective. I started in 2003 actually. FO at Mesa Airlines. Most of the guys/gals in my initial new hire class there were furloughed United pilots needing work. Very sobering.

Default Southwest hiring info

Post 9/11 I was furloughed (my second furlough in four years) from the major I wanted to work for my entire adult life. I went to a regional, got furloughed ten months later. Went to another regional, stayed there about two years before taking a job flying corporate in a Learjet. Stayed there almost 9 years before going to another LCC briefly and then coming here.

Been an interesting ride...

CrucifiedwX78,

I agree with the above post. Your quails are right in the breadbasket. Stay patient and your time will come. Just make sure your app on file with pilot credentials is perfect.

Centerline, are you aware of any non-typed applicants who have interviews?

Brasilia,

Our clients who have gotten called have the type I believe, but let us do some digging for you to answer your question. I'll get back to you with what we find out.

Military Enlisted 20 years, All G/A flying. Part 135 and Part 121 Capt. Interviewed with no type on 737 (It can happen) and was hired. I needed to get the type prior to getting a class date. I was in the last NH class of 8, with The Duke! Guys, it is the luck of the draw. No rhyme or reason! Good luck and keep plugging away. Hope you all get the interview and get hired. Most relaxed interview I ever experienced. Hard part was waiting 6 weeks for the DB last year.
