Hey Slow,

Pinnacle pilots needs some ALPA advice on how to deal with a big coorporation.
Looking forward to reading your balanced advice to them.

Wrong, never ever flew as your F.O, but I may have done your OE. I did a lot of OE for the Gulfstream folks (most of them were outstanding.) If you truly believe your mid '07 hire date at AirTran should be ahead of my '08 hire date at SWA, you should have applied at SWA and you would have had a chance to make that happen.

Look at my numbers again--paying 2,000 SWA FO's bypass pay would have cost Gary Kelly $10,000,000 a month. *As I recall the company only offered SWA FO's a 1.25 pay override on legs flown with a Captain junior to them on the ISL--millions of dollars less than it would have taken to make everyone feel luved in the deal. *Fencing off ATL would have been wonderful for the AT side--all the pay and benefits but no loss of relative seniority as long as they stayed flying at the mothership. *No arrogance or superiority complex just simple economics--making WM happy would have ****ed off thousands of SWA FO's.

It will be fun to watch how the United/Continental ISL works out with the twice furloughed 1999 hire United guys sitting on the bottom of their FO list while guys with the same longevity at Continental are riding in Captain seats. *Good luck with that!

And that right there in a nutshell sums up the SWA pilots' elitist mentally to a T. Don't you guys think?

Imagine the nerve! Thinking DOH was fair!

I never wanted to work at SWA. I came to AirTran because this is where I wanted to work. Never even applied to the SWA cult. As far as your '08 hire date, yes, not only should it put you junior to me, but quite a bit junior to me, since I was halfway up the FO list here, and you were at the bottom of the FO list there.

Thus proving that relative seniority would have been "preposterous"!

Not preposterous, but the relative windfalls and losses have been hashed and re-hashed ad nauseam here regarding the differing age of the two pilot groups.
