good luck to you...hate to see a pilot getting threats from venting angst over a deal that kind of went sideways from what you've said..could have had a different outcome.....in retrospect, the BOD maybe should have had a deal for the pilots worked out and attached to the "sale".... kind of a little good will for the folks who made airtran...i have many friends there...
We are all pawns in this game. Blaming the pilots on the other side is short sighted. Being rude to them in the terminal is just being a jerk and won't change anything except the joy of that moment.
I certainly accept that many AT pilots are unhappy with the sale of their company and outcome of the SLI. I may have been also. And I do not expect them to understand that our side also has ill feelings towards the SLI. As well of the pilots at SWA they are naturally more concerned for their own future.
But what is done is done. I don't blame anyone. This is business and we are just part of the cog in the wheel. I just hope the majority of us will be grown up enough not to antagonize each other whether it is passing in the terminal or on a silly anonymous forum as this.
Good luck to us all in this highly unstable industry.

I agree. This would have been good for both sides.

As for the SWA F/O pay, unless you can guarantee me that you'll never take a paycut (concessionary contract), then I really don't want to hear it. We hear that $#^! all the time. It's not a valid excuse for giving up that much seniority. Seniority is forever, contracts fluctuate.
Besides, for many of the downgrades, SWA F/O pay is a PAYCUT.

How many retirements did AT have coming in the next 10 years?
Totally rhetorical of course. SWA brought many more "retirements" to the table vs AT. FAT will dominate the SWA seniority list in 15 years.

I guess "many more" is relative when WN only has a slightly better retirement outlook than FL....
