Give it a rest, everyone's goal is explosive growth. The more accurate statement about cost structure is now everyone else is like Southwest because they have been through bankruptcy and subsequently reduced costs through slash and burn techniques that left employees and creditors with the short end of the stick. SWA has managed a 40 year run of profitability, a feat unmatched in the industry. You're right, they haven't been through bankruptcy....yet, but if you're holding your breath for it to happen soon, it may be a longer wait than you anticipated.

There is only one airline in history that has more profitable years than loss years.

In fact, Southwest has been called 'the only reason to invest in airlines'.

The infamous fuel hedges lasted, what? 4 years? How do you explain the other 36?

One could make the argument that operating AirTran, with cheaper labor costs and smaller aircraft than 737s, could be in fact outsourcing. But for the most part, I agree with you.

Yes, it is a shameful industry that through bankruptcy, employee pay was cut and better aligned with the employees of SWA. I don't hold any ill will towards SWA. There's just so many of us out there that are saying, "see, we told you so", as SWA has morphed more into a legacy style carrier and ya'll still aren't listening.

Respectfully, I think you would be the only one making that "argument". We bought AirTran. Southwest is on schedule to fully integrate every single employee and 737 airframe by 2015, just like we said we would. And even though we made a deal with Delta to take the 717s, we are keeping all those pilots and FA's. Zero furloughs, zero.

I don't think Delta or UniCal, et al. have any plans now or in the future to purchase and fully integrate Pinnacle, Skywest, ASA, ExpressJet, GoGets, Great Lakes, Trans States, Air Whiskey, etc.

BUT, if you guys do decide to buy and integrate one, that will be the entertainment of the year for those of us on APC!!

So you're comparing AirTran to regional airlines? How tall is your horse?

Please read and follow the previous posts in this thread. I am not comparing AirTran to a regional. One of your buddies made a faint comparison of our purchase of AirTran to "outsourcing". I was simply responding.

Please don't let your blind hatred for SWA be reflected in all your posts. But please do see if you can do something about continuing to outsource your flying to your regionals.
