The question still remains

Maybe it's as simple as we have zero desire to be just like you?

That is a silly retort. You had leverage, and you chose not to improve your contract. It is a simple question.. why not? It has nothing to do with being like me or anyone else.. just that you did not take advantage of an opportunity. ... or did you... ?

I really find this line of discussion very interesting. I believe that SWAPA has a very tight scope clause, and for that I commend them... but.... going forward, I wonder if it will be able to continue status quo. IF what the pom poms are saying is true.. that GK HAD to force this down everyone's throat or risk a scope violation, they might find this scope under attack in the same way our 3.B.6 was lost a few years ago. It is clear that this merger was forced down AT's throat, and SWAPA is the beneficiary, but I wonder if GK makes a run at another competitor how it would go down. There is no way that with this scope clause, GK could make a run at one as large as AK. It would cost too much money. Back when Herb was flying puke colored airplanes around the southwest, a scope clause for his pilots like the one they have was easy. His model worked in that environment. Now that they are at least a continental player, it might not work so well for corporate goals. SWAPA will have to engage management going forward if SWA is to grow, or risk stagnation (personally, I think they are already there.. but shoegoo and 1 seat think I am nuts) get it? nuts... Good times.

I'm amazed at how often I hear this from Delta guys. YOU didn't exactly "take it back" when YOU had mgmt over a barrel to get the merger done.

"LUVers" congrats on spinning the subject away from the truth. Yes DAL has crappy scope, many code shares, lower rates, less vacation, crappier trips etc etc. At night we ALL sleep comfortably knowing we (DAL or NWA) did not make an unabashed seniority grab during the merger. We approach each other as equal and appreciated professional co-workers. Co-workers that are not on separate pay scales or that don't have the same right and ability to upgrade as everyone else.

Drop the vitriol for a second. Yeah we all know that we didn't eat the whole apple, but we are taking bites. You have had the good fortune to not go thru bankruptcy. I don't even wish that on 1 seat. It sucks. We lost a lot in that chapter thank you very much, and it is gonna take some time to recover. But we got something for cooperation. I am just curious as to why you don't seem to have received ANYTHING other than your new found seniority. But I guess you would rather fight with us about it, so OK.. have at it. You missed an opportunity. Here's your sign.
