Default AIP2 approved by SWAPA BOD and ATN MEC

Going to a vote by both groups.

Details are out.

Only the full-text documents are available, no summaries or bullet points.

The sad thing is, the AT guys would most likely be on the street in a matter of time if they didn't vote it in. Putting fear in your new pilot group is the way to get a vote......gee (I just got an idea), I gotta remember that for when I buy an airline in the future. Best of luck AT/SWA. Hopefully the new proposal is somewhat fair to everyone.

Any agreement forced upon a group by threatening their jobs is not going to be fair. Period.

I was not physically there, but I would bet it wasn't a threat but more of a matter of fact of what option C looked like.

Care to explain what your Option C would be if you were SWA management? I'm sure I'm not the only one curious about that...

Here are the major details:

-Integration to be complete by 2015.
-No FL pilot can become a WN captain until 2015. FL pilots can become a WN FO, ATL 717 Capt., or ATL 717 FO.
-717 to be fenced until 2015 and keep FL pay rates.
-Transition of 737s to begin in April.
-Transition of 717s to begin in January 2013.
-Crews to transition with planes. Final crews to transition by April 2014.
-Codesharing can start as soon as deal is approved.

-No PMWN pilot will be able to bid the 717 until 2015.
-717 Pilots will earn the current 717 pay (not WN pay) even when flying a reconfigured plane in the WN network until 2015.
-In 2015, 717 pay rates will snap up to 737 pay rates.
-Basically for a senior FL ATL 717 pilot, barely anything will change besides the name on the side of the plane and the seats inside until 2015.

-The first FL pilot is #1346.
-The 449 most junior FL pilots as of Sept. 27th, 2010 are last besides those hired after that date.
-The most junior FL captain is more than 3/4s down the list.
-This is out of over 7800 pilots total.

No base protections, all AT B737 capt seats go to SWA pilots as airplanes are converted, vast majority of AT pilots will have to commute to a SWA base where they will be jr. I'm guessing overall seniority will still be in the DOH minus 2 to 3 year range. Most AT pilots not on SWA pay for several more years. And let's not forget the retirement contribution pay cut beginning on 1 Jan. SWA just put out a press release calling the agreement "fair and equitable". "Culture" shock continues for AirTran pilots.

I dont know if there was an option C or not, but one that has any business sense has to realize that SWA executives have a fiduciary duty to its shareholders. With that being said, a company with over a billion dollar investment that doesn't have back up plans would be elementary. Another words, they weren't going to allow a US/America west to develop.

if one takes that as threatening, than its their perception. What one should see is a company that didn't fall of the turnip truck yesterday and always has contingencies. Which btw, if you are an Airtran employee than you should know that your current management is going to be successful and not just run like every other company.
