Look at how each of these groups were integrated. Look @ how the Frontier pilots were going to be treated.

A pariah? Hah! If SWAPA and their pilots aren't already a pariah now after stapling or refusing to even integrate 1,000's of pilots employed with airlines their company voluntarily acquired, what makes you think they will be a pariah now after a couple thousand more pilots get 'welcomed' to Southwest?

Are the AA pilots pariahs b/c of the way they treated the TWA pilots?
To equivocate what A/A and TWA did WRT the current situation at SWA/ATA is NOT a fair comparison, by whatever perspective you choose to view it. TWA was facing liquidation, and EVERYBODY involved knew it. AirTran was/is a very profitable (but a National in size) airline. I say the following because I was personally involved: The very best way to merge two airline pilot groups is to have the pilots work out "the List" before the merger is "inked". If ya'll don't get this worked out in a fair and equitable manner, I would expect that you will live to rue the day that you started this process. (I know the pilots didn't 'start it'...but it is well within your collective power to make it right). I do wish all of you guys the very best. And remember (guess it probably needs to be said...) You're not going to arrive at a conclusion that makes everybody happy. The realistic goal is to p1ss of an equal percentage of guys from both lists---then you'll KNOW you got it right.
Sincere Best Wishes....

Where IS ALPA? JetBlue voted them down and retrospectively, it seems to have been the correct choice. ALPA seems ineffective at best...completely incompetent at worst. No wonder there are rumblings at DL and UA to can them. AT is getting hosed and ALPA is no where to be found. Sad.

If ALPA fights for Air Tran now they'll probably lose more to the TWA pilots in the future.

As an unbiased outsider with no skin in the game (Delta), I believe this is the SWA management-provided decision-making tool the AirTran guys were forced to use to help them decide if a second no-vote was worth the risk:

Not even close to fair and equitable.
