This industry is full of accidents by many existing carriers and your giddiness towards this subject with regards to SWA is revealing. You aren't even waiting to taint the pool water when you are on property.
Vote No. Either with your feet or with your 1 vote. While I may be looking forward to working with the majority of the AT folks, your assimilation may not be worth it.

Wow WM! you are easily entertained. A little late to the party though, aren't you? The EMAS comment was made in late August and I found the comment funny also. Since you brought it back to life, would you please explain your definition of the "truth behind it?"

Gimme a break. The industry is full of accidents and unfortunately almost all airlines have had them. Perhaps what's so telling is comments from some of your own FOs about how the more senior Cptns are clueless when it comes to using some of the automation, taxi at breakneck speeds (not more than 30 knots, I know), deliberately try and get in front of other aircraft, etc.
Let's not kid. This particular reputation is well deserved.

Humor is one thing, but bias and hatred will rot the soul.

Are you kidding? The running jokes with regard to SWA and it's pilot's all have to do with runway overruns and high taxi speeds. You're really going to insult my/our intelligence by insinuating that there's no truth to either?

Maybe we should go back and count all overruns by every airline and see who wins. We also have "running jokes" about other airlines and their mistakes.
As far as taxiing at speeds that you wish to embellish (see second bold above) I think things can be done quickly without compromising safety. I will not exceed FOM speeds for any taxiway advantage, but I will quicken my step a little. Especially if I know I will be behind any airline that is known to taxi at 5-10 kts on a straight taxiway that is 2 miles long. What part of deliberate, but safe do you have a problem with?
Since you must be God's gift to aviation (see first bold above) please grace us with your presence so we can learn from a master.

BTW, every airline has a few clueless captains. I heard even AT might have a few.

Has anyone brought up the fact that GK plans on reducing SWA/AT departures in Atlanta by 13%?
Southwest to 'unwind' AirTran's Atlanta hub in point-to-point switch - USATODAY.com
Kelly tells Credeur Southwest will trim daily departures in Atlanta by about 13% as it cuts some smaller markets out of the schedule.
"We'll unwind the hub and operate a typical Southwest point-to-point schedule," Kelly says to Bloomberg. "You'd rather have two nonstop passengers than one connecting passenger. AirTran yields a certain revenue per mile flown, and Southwest gets a premium to that."

Speaking of safety, although SWA crews do taxi quicker than I do, they have a very good safety record.
Airline Safety Records and Comparisons
Their maintenance, however, has come under some criticism, since SWA has the most outsourced maintenance workforce of any US carrier. (There are some articles in the above link addressing that.)
New Numbers on Airline Job Losses and Outsourcing - The Middle Seat Terminal - WSJ
"Among major airlines, Southwest Airlines Co. outsources the highest percentage of its maintenance work at 61.7% of dollars spent, according to BTS. US Airways Group Inc. is close at 60.4%. AMR Corp.’s American Airlines does the most work in-house of any major airline, with only 23.3% of its maintenance spending going to outside firms."
