fair offer or off to arbys. I'll be d@mned if I have someone tell me my aviation career is worth less than theirs. you can take that attitude and shove it. I MIGHT go for date of hire. maybe. if people will start being nice about it.
amigo, you're frothing at the keyboard, your career isn't second rate, but you are delusional about your company, and if you want to be treated with respect you might start with giving some, thank God most of the AT pilots are not like you,and your arby allusions dont exactly put you in mensa territory. i have skin in the game because this SWA/AT mess affects an immediate family member, my hope is for an equitable solution for everyone,I will now return to lurking.

AT/WN have a transition agreement that spells out the process for resolving the SLI via arbitration should a negotiated settlement not be reached. Why the angst over a management sponsored proposal?

Let it go. I will bet dollars to donuts that a arbitrator will find an equitable solution that both sides will be p!ssed about, making it a result "fair" to both parties and you can move on and forever b!tch about the "bad deal" you got in the merger....Congrats, you'll finally be a "real" airline pilot.....

If I'm not mistaken there's still a couple of SWA classes enroute to the bottom of the list too.

While we're checking the math, a predominant staple would probably be over half of the pilots. I noticed you didn't break out your slide rule to correct that little mis-statement.
While you are correcting his misstatement, you might want to consider what barring all AT FO's from upgrading until the entire SWA list gets to upgrade (FOR 9 YEARS) is called in the rest of the world.....

Effectively, it's a STAPLE.

And here you go, gentlemen. This is a prefect example of what happens when you break rule #1 in seniority list negotiations, which is:

SLI NEGOTIAIONS: RULE #1
When your profitable company buys his profitable company, don't act like you are doing a pilot a favor, by offering him a place on the bottom of your list.
Because, this is what results. (and it's EXACTLY what you would do if placed in the same situation....)

It seems a liquidate/direct transfer would not meet the intent of B-M, but there ALWAYS a loophole. Always. Think about it: GE paid ZERO in income tax last year. Zero. Now, I’m not a Merger - Acquisition Lawyer, so I don't know and can't articulate what those loopholes might be, but I would be shocked if there were none. I certainly wouldn't bet on it... I'm thinking there would have to be a round-about, indirect way to "sell" or even lease the assets from AirTran.
Not exactly true. The government has to approve the acquisition based on certain agreements. I also find it amazing that no one has mentioned that WN didn't buy FL for the airplanes, but for the routes and access to cities they did not have before. Airplanes are easy to buy, Delta just bought 100 737's. Getting gates and routes, that is more difficult, especially at the worlds busiest airport. Maybe GK would try to sell the new routes and gate space, but I think the share holders and board would have a say in that.

Since you are using it as "evidence" that what you say about loopholes and liquidating assets is true, I'll take on the zero taxes argument.

It is not true. GE paid over $23 billion in taxes last year. They paid $0 in US taxes, however, by declaring losses that cancelled out any US profits, as allowed in US tax law. They filed 7,000 US tax returns last year in order to accomplish that feat (if they had not filed electronically, the final tax retrun would have been 24,000 pages long). They also filed tax paperwork in 250 jurisdictions around the world. (I'll provide a source for my info -- there are many others available via a simple search http://features.blogs.fortune.cnn.co...-ges-tax-bill/)

Editorial comment: If the US wants companies to pay US income taxes, they could lower the corporate tax rate and eliminate the "loophole" that makes it legal for companies to shift assets and liabilities around the world so they can pay their taxes elsewhere, where the tax rates are significantly lower than the 35% in the US.

Now, maybe SWA can do something similar by leveraging its international operations ... oh, yeah, the international ops are only done by its wholly-owned subsidiary ...

you know what? my hope is for that too. but the swapa guys need a little reminder in 'the golden rule' evidently. its a smackdown and I have no interest in playing that game. I started out happy and optimistic about this. relative would have been cool. date of hire is about a 15 prct loss. now you tell me I have to take DOUBLE THAT just so some swapa guy can say 'not one pilot was harmed'.

give me a f-ing break. you didnt ask to buy us. we didnt ask to get bought. how about we BOTH share in the losses? but noooo. fine. and then all the rudeness about stapling and muse and job threats. fine. date of hire or kiss my butt and see you in arbitration. nothing else gets my vote. you want to **** me off? this is what happens. and I'm not alone in this feeling.

happy to work just as hard there and put the bad feelings aside when its all over but until then you overplayed your hand and now our guys just arent willing to discuss much with you. not mad at kelly or swa or even you personally. I'm mad at swapa. they just went off the reservation on this and you guys need to get them under control before we ram this thing through arbitration and we are all left with the results.
betcha a 100 bucks it comes closer to my date of hire thoughts than swapas staple dreams.

what this man said. thank you. its just disrespectful and ive had it and I'm going to let them know it. going to go fly again. thank god I love my job and have great people to work with otherwise this would suck. I know it will pass but somebody over there needs a wakeup call before we all end up at arbys.

Oh, I am so hurt.. What determines "predominant" in your little single engine mind then? 50%? Oh.. I reread your post.. and it would be 50%+1... You DID forget to count the guys that SWA interviewed but have yet to hire... what about them? Oh the humanity!

You're amazing.
