The choice to not put the vote out to the membership was not meant as a slap in the face. I don't believe that GK would take it that way. He's an extremely successful leader, not a 14 year old boy. The decision was made in accordance with the agreements signed by both parties.
Regarding the alleged amounts of money lost due to AirTran pilots not signing this agreement; SWA planned in the AIP to begin crossing AirTran pilots over at the leisurely rate of 30 per month in April 2012. The Arbiters are required to give their decision in Jan/Feb 2012. SOC isn't planned until second quarter 2012. SWA control the time line for the synergies, not AirTran pilots.
Having already planned for April 2012 in the AIP, any delay after SOC or the ISLI will be a matter of choice for SWA.

The dates have been prearranged. It's in the details--you know, where the devil lives.
We should start a pool. I'm guessing an announcement on the first Tuesday in 2012. (I'll gladly hold everyones cash for the payout. Trust me!)

Thanks, Tsquare. As a former SW employee, and the wife of a current SW FO, I have a probably unhealthy obsession with this acquisition. All I hope is to see the culture at SW remain at the completion of this process. I don't see how it will be possible for either side to not encounter some "pain", contrary to the beliefs of some of the posters I have read on this forum... This has definitely been a stressful time in our household.

Take a look at the latest arbitrated decision in the Pinnacle-Mesaba-Colgan list. They had hard timelines in their agreements as well, which were all duly ignored by the arbitrator. I believe the delay was multiple months later than promised. I highly doubt we will see a list 1st quarter '12. I could be wrong.

SWAPA Tactical mistake......
Sail, was that an anecdotal statement or was there actual polling data to support that statement. I spoke with 5 AT pilots after the AIP was announced and they were 4-yes and 1-no. Very small statistical group I know but I'd be very interested to see the poll results if there was one. If it had gone to a vote on both sides, I felt that it had a closer chance of being voted down on our side. I'm sure this whole thing must be my fault though... I had some chinese food last Thursday and my fortune cookie said; "May you live in interesting times"
Many AT might have voted for it sight unseen; I think it would have been a close vote and no giant majority. This will not happen again as everyone will now be reading everything thoroughly.
Unless some mediation gets done quick it is a moot point anyway.
Looking forward to moving SWA forward

I think both sides need to step back, realize that this is business. It's not personal. Both sides will play every advantage they can as long as they can. There will be a resolution and both sides will live with it.
Quit wrapping yourselves around the axle about the "fair", "expectations", and "should haves". BOTH parties signed an process agreement to resolve the issues that invariably come up in a merger. It will follow a process that both sides agreed to.
Don't let the blood pressure rise over something that you have no control over.

BS Flag on this play! I need proof in writing on this one. GK is far too smart to say something like that.

Guadalupe holdings ceased to exist on May 2nd. They merged with Texas company LLC SUB, who now owns FL.
• The merging companies are AirTran and Guadalupe Holdings Corp., a Nevada corporation and wholly owned subsidiary of Southwest Airlines. Guadalupe will be merged into AirTran, which will then become a wholly owned subsidiary of Southwest Airlines.
• After the merger closes, AirTran will be merged into a new limited liability company set up as a Texas company, LLC Sub, which will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Southwest.
If you are going to start flaming on your first post, at least get your facts straight. Or better yet, perhaps take the high road. Oh, and welcome to APC.
