Southwest/AirTran deal easy landing

So Kelly's more into making his pilots happy than maximizing profits with his 1.4 billion dollar purchase? Guess that's why I'll never be in charge. Hope it works out and he drops some "Tough Luv" on his newly adopted children and you guys all upgrade.

Not sure what's in GK's mind, but I think they spent way more than $1.4 billion.

Clarification
Just so I got this straight:
AirTran ALPA is telling their pilots they are working towards a relative seniority merger based on active service, and a joint contract that attempts to capture the high points of both contracts. Right?
SWAPA wants, what? Surely not a pure staple (right?) Perhaps at least some recognized artificial 'bonus' accredited to each year of service of a SWAPA pilot due to . . . what? Or does SWAPA want to keep the lists separate, ala USAPA?
I get keeping the lists separate as a desire (well, not really, I just don't want to discuss it, when its already well understood with USAPA). What rational reason can a Southwest pilot name for having some kind of 'super seniority' over an AirTran pilot of the same category other than those SWAPA pilots with an earlier DOH than the #1 AirTran pilot (ie, why should a 50% from the bottom WN FO be considerably senior to a 50% from the bottom FL FO)?
Thank you for the clarification.

What he really sees is his captain seat getting further and further away, and it is killing him so all he has is to "flaunt" his paycheck in front of everybody.. I wonder what he will do when he doesn't have THAT anymore....
Up, down, up, down... repeat for 30 years...
Fire away 1 seat.. I can hardly wait.

Q
IF AT pilots get relative seniority, then they get everything in this deal. 1. Huge pay raise, 2. better work rules, 3. 3 times more basing flexibility 4. a financially more stable company, 5. they don't have to worry about applying to another airline (because we all know many had apps in other companys) 6. Since they're on average much younger than SWA pilots (8 years on average) they get to enjoy all of this for a typically longer career and faster advancement because of older pilots ahead of them ....all for nothing?
SWAPA pilots get nothing. So why shouldn't we try to get something out of this deal? Just sayin, fair is fair.
Name one benefit of this deal that is UNIQUE to SWAPA pilots.
Until this ledger starts to balance out, my opinion is we will not have an agreement. What reasonable pilot would vote for this kind of deal?
I believe an arbitrator will see value in things outside of seniority,
as the law says "fair and equitable", it DOES NOT say "Relative Seniority" regardless of all other factors.
What you guys believe is what you believe. According to the AT and DL guys here, our fates are already decided. So unless something better is offered, I might as well just wait it out and drag it out as long as possible. What's my incentive not to? Like I said, there's nothing in this deal for me.
Done, that's my quota for the week
