Small Rant
I had to deadhead on a flight for the first time a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed the new Maui Onion snack packs in their complete form wafting throughout the cabin. I would love to know who decided serving 175 bags of onion-flavored snacks to people while locked into a tube was a great idea. The entire plane smelled like ass.
OK, rant over, but it goes to the point that this place cannot get out of its way sometimes. Worse, they branded this like the next big thing in air travel: Maui Onion.

Yea but those new pretzels are SO TASTY! Unfortunately from what I read in a couple scientifical-like studies about taste and smell, there's a genetic trait that makes certain tastes/smells like onion and garlic absolutely intolerable (my Mom had it, I lucked out and didn't inherit that) so for the percentage of people who are very sensitive to onion and garlic, it's going to be horrific on flights serving those new snacks.
The rest of us seem to love them. Very tasty.
At least it's just a smell... My son goes into anaphalyxis shock from peanuts and if he had a reaction from peanuts while flying it could kill him before we could even land. I'll take onion breath over deathly poison peanuts any day, it's not even a reasonable comparision being offended vs. being dead.

Didn’t the VP of Inflight (probably the worst job in the world but one that I would love to try) do a video about a year ago explaining the massive complexity of bringing on a new snack. Taste, smell, cleanliness, packaging, cost, etc… he went into detail and made it sound like building a nuclear plant.

"Regarding the pretzels, we've been purposefully building to this moment and I could not be more excited about the work your VP's put into it. We think you're going to love it and know our customers will too. Alright everyone, I hope you have a safe weekend and I love you."
