Hey you guys who are so unhappy why don't you go to American since you think everyone else is better off than SWA. They reported a lost this Q!

How many already have? Seems like I get at least one or 2 FOs a month that just weren't sold on the LUV. (I'm in Dallas so that might be part of it). 2 years ago a 5 year FO would have gained seniority leaving and a 7-8 year SAW FO probably would break even. Now? not so much, but if hiring at AA DAL or UAL spools up again before the MAX 7 shows up there would definitely be more opportunity to jump ship.

Probably the most disturbing was a great FO I recently had. On day two we were talking and I knew his mom from SWA. In fact both his mom and dad were retired SWA Captains. They were the ones that told him not to bother applying.

I'm not putting down WN, I really want to see you guys succeed. I've got neighbors and close friends there. But over the last 5-6 years it has become more and more clear that you (collectively) might be following the wrong leader into battle? SWA pilots were the best group of PEOPLE I've every been around as a whole but "its just business" right? For me my schedule, family time, stress, and bank account are much better now. However timing is everything seniority is a close third to luck.

Where they going? How about FedX? Oh, they announced they are cutting capacity like 60% due loss of the mail contract. Don't think anyone going to be upgrading there anytime soon. How about American? Doubt that either, they could not even make money over the summer, so the rest of year and first Q of next year going to be rough over there, I doubt they grow at all for years. United who knows with that flaky CEO running that operation. Delta maybe, so is everyone going to Delta, highly unlikely. All sudden old SWA not looking to bad.

The economy is changing and so is demand for air travel. The airline business always has and always will be cyclic. This time next year aircraft and pilots will be easy to obtain. The delivery issues at Boeing and Airbus are simply giving management teams someone to point a finger at. They don't actually want the airframes. I think this down cycle will be relatively short however and things will pick up,a bit in 2026.
