exactly. Went from double digits on the train to sold out by the time I got to the gate several times already. CSA do not like it and OPS agent cant plan well because of it.
Its definitely not a benefit for employees

I what you are saying now, I didn’t pick up on that from the post I quoted.

Seems like a great deal for the passengers but crappy for everyone else, including our investors.

Sucks for A List too. It used to be a benefit that only they had and now everybody gets it.
It has turned nonrevving into a nightmare if you want to take a morning flight.

Ops Agent in DEN told me the latest 'scam' pax are using is to book cheap on a flight with 1 or 2 connections and then change to the non-stop with no fee. Can't blame the customer for finding the weak spots.

This MISmanagement team needs to go like yesterday! Who in their right mind comes up with stupid policies like this? You would think that at this level of “management”, one would have the foresight to see potential manipulations like this. What a bunch of frigging incompetent buffoons.

Can confirm. My daughter did this and it is a well known hack using revenue standby. Her work purchased a cheap connection though STL and she just showed up to the nonstop and put herself on the standby list and went. Easy peasy. With everything out there in 30 second videos on TikTok, as soon as changes are implemented, people are going to take advantage of anything that can help them beat the system.

This is the kind of crap that makes me wonder if a) this is incompetence at the highest levels, or b) deliberate sabotage of our airline. No one with half of sense for our business would ever come up with something like this...

Why do I think of Dumb and Dumber and the scene where Harry tells Lloyd "just when I thought you couldn't possibly be any dumber and you go on and do something like this..... "

When this was rolled out without any kind of pre-announcement about a year ago, everyone who touches an airplane or works in customer service knew it was going to be a nightmare. This is a tool that should be given to your high value business and loyal travelers as an incentive to buy the most expensive tickets and travel regularly on SWA, not a hack for budget travelers trying to beat the system. It was poorly conceived and poorly thought out as an easy way to gen up more business by increasing the value of the cheapest fares which aren't really that cheap compared to a basic economy fare on OAL. It has backfired spectacularly and had the second order effect of eroding the value of an already highly devalued employee travel benefit.
It needs to go back to being for a list and business select customers only.

Another popular hack on Reddit right now is to buy a cheap ticket for an upcoming trip in a few months that may not be at the most convenient time or have unwanted connections. Due to the reworking of the long term schedule, a lot of flights are being changed by 5 or 10 minutes or cancelled altogether. This triggers a free change, allowing the customer to go in and book the flight they really want for free. Genius. If it doesn't work, you can just same day standby.

when this came out people told Bob that it will disrupt travel.for non revs trying to get to work. His response was they should be able to take the last flight because those people moved to the earlier ones.
so out of touch are anyone in Dallas. Spend a month there for training and see how no one knows whats going on out on the line.
Bob needs to do one of those secret boss episodes.
