I should be senior enough to hold them. Sitting in the mid teens in my base. We will see how many end up in the bid pack and who bids em, same as always.

I swear there was no alcohol involved in the production of that post (which may be even more sad).

yep. At least SWAPA has 2000 pages of notes to document how we didn’t get any pairing construction limits and floors.

Red eyes take a huge toll on your body even if you feel "ok" during the flight. That being said, some people love them for the schedule efficiciency, but it seems to be an extreme minority.
Yeah I did a red eye flight in corporate flying once and I felt wrecked the next day. VNY-IAD. I've heard that at UA too. WB flying looks cool and all but when you look at the red eye schedules I feel like it wears you out faster and ages you.

What really ages you is flying LBB -MAF-LBB 12 times a day like some on here think our schedules are.

Its ok pardner, you just need to get a big ol' yellow cup of Dickies sweet tea with your brisket taco in the morning when you take off from Love. By the time you are on your 13th leg, you will have gone back through there at least twice, so you can just get it refilled. That will get you through your day.

I used to do redeye flying a lot in a previous job. I also had a job previous to flying where I worked graveyard shift. It was easy in my 20s and got much much harder as I started approaching my 40s. The biggest dilemma was when you do finally get to where you are going (home in many cases) whether you stay awake for a solid 24 hour period or go to sleep immediately and completely wreck your next day. Either way, if you do that enough, you will end up wrecking your physical and mental health as well as your relationships. Fortunately, the way the trips and lines are constructed at SWA, you won't have that dilemma but maybe a few days a month.

There are a lot of techniques to combat this, my preferred one is going to sleep immediately for two hours and then absolutely forcing yourself to get up and drink a giant coffee, but again, not sure how healthy that is in the long run. It was the only way I could unwind the circadian shift quickly and effectively.

This x 100. The last thing I’d want to do after a red eye, is have an o dark thirty wake-up to go fly multiple legs. I’d much rather fly a single evening leg later that day or give me a mid morning or later report the next day.
