Yes, when landing a speeding 140k lb airplane on a 5500 foot runway with a busy road at the end of it, you don't just discard the first 1500 feet of it because of something that someone read once in a book. That's a quarter mile of pavement that Jesus put there for your use. Use it. It isn't there to look pretty or to host an arts festival. It's there to hold airplanes.
Right. Some of these tools must be a blast to fly with.

Do you normally end up with hot brakes requiring cooling in BUR, MDW, SNA or equivalent? Not asking as an *******, just curious.

Ive flown this plane in and out of strips as short as 4800 feet and NEVER had hot brakes that required cooling. Ive stopped in less than 2000 feet with 70 pax and still didnt have hot brakes. Ive flown airplanes that routinely needed brake temps to be monitored on anything less than 7500 feet so I know what Im looking for.

Usually no. I’ve had to do cooling in Denver more than anywhere.

On airplanes which had BTMS, we tended to need cooling at high / hot airports. Longer runways are probably worse, because that usually means a longer taxi in. The brakes don't cool well in hot thin air, while you're using them to taxi.

Yeah agree. I have gotten it a couple times. Cool at gate for 48 minutes. No problem with our industry leading turn times.

Allegedly. Hot & high airports mean higher TAS,. Which could possibly be a bigger driver of the brake energy dissipation than the DA, temp, or length of the taxi environment. Maybe. Should have a good chance to find out for sure with the FAA SMEs on our jumpseats soon.

Haha. Good one. Ever had a fed ride? My general experience is they have zero clue as to the ins and outs of specific airline ops. They want to get the check in the box and go home.
