I asked you for the time. How long should it take you once you accept the immediate takeoff clearance to get moving?

I reckon I should head on over the the AAL forum and raise some cane because a couple weeks ago they pushed out in front of us (after we'd called ready to taxi) and blocked us in the alley for a loooooong time. And *THEN* they taxiied like, well, Amurican. We were in a max which takes forever to start yet we still had to wait on them to move. Should I get hoppin mad ? Or, oooooooorrrrrrr maybe realize that they were up pretty early like us, had a degraded S.A. and were just trying to get the day started on and then be on their way with absolutely NO ill intent to screw another aircrew over!? Maybe it was IOE? Oh yeah, the next week, same airline taxiied slow infront of us and slowed us down. </s> It Had to be specifically aimed at me. </s>
Why attribute to malice which may have been something completely innocent ?
We can all now go back to the regularly schedule spear throwing using unquantified numbers of 'occurrences' and large generalizations

Going into DFW for that other airline, we were at 8000 doing 250. ATC gave us a vector for overtaking traffic going into Love. The captain said F that, tell them our speed. Told ATC we were indicting 250 and asked how were we being overtaken by traffic below 10. Dead silence for about 15 seconds before they gave SWA a vector and asked them their speed.
answer- “We’re slowing”
probably doesn’t happen near as often, but I’ve had friends tell me they had to remind the captain about the speed when they were FOs in the early 2000s.

In my day Southwest was a place you went after you were turned down by all the majors. Paying for your own rating to go fly 6 legs a day was not something people did unless it was the last resort.

Nice dodge. 3 minutes after being cleared for immediate takeoff, you should be retracting flaps with your gear already stopped spinning in the well, not getting chewed out by the tower because you haven't so much as applied TOGA despite being asked several times if they were OK because traffic is on short final.

Maybe it’s no longer happening but I’ve seen it myself over the years. Cutoff in LAS when Southwest never replied to numerous calls from ATC to give way. Always asking for a direct with ATC no matter how busy the controller is at the time. Watching several land on 24R at LAX with max breaking to make the reverse high speed to save :30. The reputation wasn’t given out of thin air.

I didn’t pay for a 737 type. And the last time I flew 6 legs in a day was in a RJ making less than $100k/yr.
